yes, ST announced that PSO4 will be called:

"Phantasy Star Online Episode IV: D.A.N.C.I.N.G. Q.U.E.E.N. Revolution-Revolt with a cherry on top"

i wonder what D.A.N.C.I.N.G. Q.U.E.E.N. stands for... *wonders what new technology threatens peace on ragol*

i wonder what the game will be like...

it's not PSO it is simply PS. the first thing in the entire series not online just the first RPG

These games are offline RPGs and contain the main story to the Phantasy Star series. PSO is more of a side story, or a "PS Themed" online game - depending on how you look at it.

Considering Ep III was just released, I don't think they're gonna announce anything new for quite a while.

Probably won`t even be released but the E3 will tell... Why should SonicTeam release an update for an earlier episode then - after episode III? Makes no sense!!

Well, the next PSO (if they ever make one) needs a new guddamn engine. They've been using the same one for what, 3 or 4 years now?

And for the love of God, revert back to the original battle system! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_cry.gif

And more customization, push the system's limits! You should be able to change little details like costume shade and tint, eye color and shape, nose shape, lip shape/color, etc. Maybe being able to buy accessories for your characters would be nice too, heh. Just think about it...a Racast with an 'fro! That'd be so cool! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Slight customization of your character animations too, heh. Having about 10 to 15 selectable poses for idling, running, walking, tech casting, weapon attacking, and chosing whether your character will be left or right handed.

It's just so boring to see a racast stand there with his handgun pointing up in the air constantly, you know? It'd be neat to see them fake-draw their gun or toss it between their hands or something would be neat. Or seeing that Hucast turn his head around every few seconds to keep an eye out for danger would be nice. Character's idling animations just seem too mellowed out! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

New weapon types would be nice too, heh. Dual handguns (not mechguns, but actual handguns), dual sabers (being able to use two sabers at once), being able to pick up some random items that are strewn about on the ground and throw them at enemies would be nice.

And as for teams, more customization would be nice there as well. Setting the number of people that can join your team (anywhere from 2 at the minimun to 6 to 8 at the max), ability to boot trouble makers if your the team leader.

I'd be nice to be able to explore almost ALL of ragol within reason. And not just crampt little rooms, MASSIVE FIELDS that you can explore, 30 areas would be great to have. Deserts, forests, mountains, underground areas, Pioneer2, more of Gal da Val (or however it's spelled), Ragol's cities, jungles, plains, beaches, some more V.R. areas.

Oh, balance out character stats properly this time too. Hunewearls having only 100 or less MST than Fomarls is just leigmne. Ramars having more ATP than two of the Hu classes is pretty leigmne too. Not to mention the other character stat B.S.

Long post. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

I agree with pretty much all your ideas except the one I quoted. My only problem with ideas like "using objects from the environment" and whatnot is that it's straying into territory of other games that just don't work with PSO. I mean, we're not trying to make Max Payne or XIII here.

But yeah, they really need a new engine with new features. I agree that you should be able to completely customize your character. I mean, obviously they shouldn't throw in random articles of clothing. It should all look as if it might exist in the PSO world. But at least being able to see what kind of armer you have equipped would be nice.

As for having 30 or so levels, I say they should just make it an MMORPG with a constant world.

To be fair, I've said all this stuff a million times on these boards, and I highly doubt I was the first.

Yesh, for example, I'd like to give my HUmar the HUcaseal's dagger and double saber animation. Not because they are all around superior animations (That is just how it works out) but it always look like an insane character is performing these animations. SUPAH CHAO is insane. Point, there. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

hey PS3 will be another story.

but yea, they do need to add some new stuff from the game, even though the Dual Handgun and Dual saber thing seems really familiar from my last thread on this board, I think they should add many more weps types, like nunchucks, Sai's, Bow (not arrow but melee type bow), Hammer, machine gun, and punch and kick, each with their own unique combo animation.

Oh god no.. not EverQuest. You'd have to really hate the series, and hate the fanbase of it to turn PSO into as big a steaming pile of **** as EverQuest.

You should be burned at the stake for even suggesting it.

It's the last of the Rico/Flowen storyline. Nothing is known about other PSO games at the moment, except that if another is made, there will be a new storyline.

Like Star Fox or Kingdom Hearts?

I'd like the following:

HUnewm
HUmarl
RAnewm
RAnewearl
FOcast
FOcaseal
Rappy classes(HU RA or FO Rappys)

bigger stages

more practical battle style(something that keeps you awake)

a difficulty exclusive to lv190 and above(with completely different stages and enemies)

to travel all around Pioneer 2(see residential district)

and to spit in that WORKS guys face.

What's so far fetched about interplanetary travel? It was present in PS1, PS2, PS4, and PS:Adventure. PS3 had something similar in concept, but you were moving to different ecological areas of the same ship.

All that has been mentioned was that Ep. III is the end of the Rico/Flowen storyline, that future incarnations of PSO will have a different story. I know I'm not the only one that has read this. I just wish one of us could find the article! lol

No, that is NOT true. It has been said that Episode III is the end of the Rico/Flowen storyline. They never said that there would never be anymore PSO games. Could somebody go look this up? I believe it was in an issue of Nintendo Power from a few months ago.

Given Sega's current business/economic situation in which they are basically a subsidary of Sammy, I'd say the chances of them making any move online RPGs are very low. The company barely even exists anymore.

Best chance for a new PSO would be if the property was sold to another company, perhaps Namco or Square/Enix. Sega is essentially dead.

If there were to be a new PSO, it would be the true PSO 2, not episode four, because episode three concludes the Ragol story.

... you're kidding right? You do realize that Sega is still the second largest development house in the industry right behind EA don't you? It's not that Sega is going bankrupt or anything, they're making plenty of money. They're just not making ENOUGH money to support the size of the corperation at it's current size.

I believe that Sega might make another PSO sequel in the future, but I don't think that it would be made by the same people, though; Sonic Team did mention that they were no longer involved in making any more PSO games after Episode 3.

What they said was that Episode 3 was the end of the Rico/Flowen story arc, which suggests that any other PSO games probably won't be centered around Ragol.

I still say the next one should be set on Motavia about 10 years before Phantasy Star 4.

Sinue: Sega is making money, but under Sammy's control, they will focus on home systems very little. It's already started-there's next to no games on Sega's upcoming release schedule, and certainly nothing on a sophisticated adult level. Samurai Jack just came out, Astro Boy is slated to be released a while down the road, but nothing else is close AFAIK except for sports titles. E3 will give us a better idea of where Sega's future lies. But under Sammy's yoke, I don't see much hope. Which is a tragedy.
