Hint for getting More S Ranks

I don't mean the card rank, I mean the ranking you get when you win a battle, which enables you to pull more cards.

The advice is simple.
Add a specific guard that fits your deck. So if you use Sword Types, add an SA Guard. AB enemies? AB Guard. Use one of these a battle, and you're almost guaranteed an S Rank.

Why? Using a Guard card essentially blocks for 99 damage, giving you 79.2 points towards what you need for an S Rank. With only very minimal more effort, an S Rank is assured.

that's good advise. But most of those defense cards need four defense points to use. now only i can get high defense rolls to use most of them..lol

3 DEF for the Enemy varieties, 4 for the Hunter ones. Yeah, it's a bit of a bitch to set up, but if you manage to block just one attack with it, you got yourself an S, as opposed to a C or B for a quick battle.

i got S rank not because of defense cards but because of massive damga my chaos sorrecer and ill gill does when i get one on them out.^_^

Ya know, Arislan, I think you have solved one of my very very very long wondered mystery.

Vulpes and I were in a Tourney on a small map which I was Arkz. Sil'fer and KC were our opponent and they were virusing like crazy. The battle was long and drawn out and I was sure we were going to get an F for it. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

And we got S-rank. Now that you have mentioned it, I guess it was because of my NA guard.

I always have a SW Guard in my deck, and I'll pull it out when I get a 4 as my defense.

Dunno if Aegis or Cancel would work, Ive never tried them, mainly because noone EVER uses one of those attacks on me, so I never stick them into the deck. Although, I don't think it does, since blocking 3 damage with a Guard only counts 3 damage reduced for points.

No, ive used these before (Endu with Panarms) and S, although not rare, isnt always obtained. even with Endu's added damage count per attack, a specific gaurd doesnt "automatically" get you rank S.

it isnt a bad idea, though, to up your rank

Even with those xx Guard cards, you aren't guaranteed S rank by a long shot. I've got them in every deck I make. That's why I like to make decks of one thing (sword,gun,native,dark etc) and just put in three of that Guard card.

What do Aegis card and Cancel do? I got the JP version and the description wasn't very good. Is it just a card that defends for 99 HP?? I hope they changed the desciption for the EU version...
Does it just cancel the attack (and action cards) for any attack as long as it's blue/green etc. And that's why they is no tech or physical attack on them?

If I understand correctly Aegis Guard blocks instant death or special physical attack (blue colour stuff like Penatrate ... ah! So it can block penatrate!). Cancel blocks blue and green (things like Bind and freeze)... So they are basically making some of the card effects completely useless.

Penetrate is an Orange color though, like Rampage.

And actually, offline, the Guards work just as I described above. After a bit of testing online though, I discovered the guards function has been "corrected", only giving the points it should be giving for the blocked attack.

Fight Guykid (sp?) offline BZZTBZZT deck. Its rubbish he never attacks and equiped a sheild, mag and rifle every turn for extra exp bonus points. Get Srank in 3-4 turns easy.

Same here, IMO doing 100+ damage is the best and easiest way to get srank.

P.S. Chaos Sorcerers are teh awesome.

that explains why ive seen coms block rabarta/gibarta when neither card has a green bar
