Here is more about the event:

Some of you may have been to the JP servers today and wondered why there's some Nintendo Dream banners in the lobby that aint in the US lobbies. Well, I'm gonna tell you

ST and Nintendo Dream have got together to hold the Guild Card Haiku Competition. it is literally what it says on the tin. You have to write a Haiku (In Japanese presumably) on your Guild Card.

The editors of Nintendo Dream will be around on Pioneer 2 to gather Haikus (by collecting people's Guild Cards)

If they manage to get 640 lines worth of Haiku from the Guild Cards, then a new quest (Beautiful Inolis) will be added

Here's how to order:

*1. Haiku's must fit the standard pattern.
1st line=5 syllables
2nd line=7 syllables
3rd line=5 syllables

Haiku's must be written about 1 of the following:
PSO
Nintendo Dream
Springtime

*2. When you're done, write your Haiku and penname on your Guild Card

http://www.sonicteam.com/pso3/nindrea/nindrea02.jpg

*3. You must then go and find the Nintendo Dream editors! It seems there's been an "event" option added to Choice Search to make it easier

There's 2 of them, named KAYAYAN and Kei-TAISA. They'll be easy to spot due to their orange names.

There you go ^_^

I gave mine to the guys, got thanked.. They had 21 of them when I asked. So we're already 63 lines in, and I saw a couple more thank yous while I was taking a pic.

Hmmz, seems like you can't write in Japanese here ey.

According to the card in the game and the Deamage guide, it's si-ru-fu-chisaii a making it sirufa, sirufaa would have a nobasu (dash) on the end.

nintendou(in kanji) tasu
minnasan no yume (yume in kanji) ha
nintendori (in kata) da!

I can only read and write hiragana.. so, could someone help me check if the haiku I've written above is grammatically correct?

Btw, I noticed that the example given is such that the first line is aligned to the left, while the last line is aligned to the right? How do I do that?

And where does the pen name go in?

One more thing: how do I write kanji with the software keyboard? Should I even bother with kanji?

All help appreciated.

That Haiku is 6/8/7, not wuite the rhythm that's supposed to be used. To get kanji, just press space once you've typed the name. Do note that most company names use Katakana, the Kanji is only for official stuff.

Huh? 6/8/7? 'n' sounds count as one separate syllable?

So if I write Nintendou, I should use katagana?

Thanks a plenty. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Right, the n sound is a syllable or beat count as well. You could do it either way, neither would be wrong. Nromally in "normal speech" type writing, you'd use katakana, but if adopting a more written formal style, you'd use the kanji. Depends on what style you want your haiku to look like.

Si and shi are the same characters, it depends on what type of style you use: Hepburn (or the other style Walcott?) I can't remember. Ti and chi are also sometimes used interchangeably too.

(Nintendo, it's a cereal wow.)

So did anyone actually use any of my Haiku? Or write their own? I'm guessing not, but meh, figured writing a few may help people tht otherwise wouldn't do anything themselves, not having the skill.

For the record, I hate romajii. And out of romajii, the readings of "ti", "si", "syo" and the like piss me off as much as reading "watashi ha kora wo nomu". If you said that out loud, people would look at you like you're an idiot. Write it how you'd say it, don't simplify crap like that.

I am gonna use one of your Haikus arislan. Can I just put them in english like you have? (well I mean translated english, but not in japanese characters)

What time is 9pm jp time?

A bit late now actually, it's around 12:40 on the 12th in Japan at the moment, and the thing only ran till the 11th. Given the amount of people that were trying to break down the door to that lobby, I can't help but think the goal was met. I just hope the quest will be available to both versions...
