Someone tell me, is there any point playing PSO, when u get corrupted and FSODs so much. Havin already lost a lv134 HU, the further loss of my lv48 HU is really annoyin me. What's the point in spending hours levelin up, then havin it all wasted cause of a defective game??? Im considerin endin my PSO gamin, as I really cant see the point if there is so much corruption around.

um in the Xbox version corruption is not as much as a problem anymore thanks to Microsoft banning Hackers from Xbox Live... it still happens but not often... and the only guy I know who got corrupted did a bunch of bad things and most likely got a bunch of negitive feedback (which might be the reason his character was corrupted)...

on the GC I'm not so sure on though...

go with what you feel..
if you don't feel like playing pso anymore.. simple, just stay away from it..
or play another game, or no games at all <- save money http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

There is a way to avoid being corrupted in the GameCube version. The only way I've heard of people getting corrupted is when they connect to the server (after bursting) and nothing happens. If this happens to anyone, all you gotta do is pull the cable out of the network adapter and it will disconnect for you, instead of having to restart the system.

Between me and my friends, we've corrupted around 6 times now, only once online. All the rest of the time, its been offline. FSOD only happens to me online, corruption jus tends to hit me offline, jus wen im gettin somewhere. I went to the extent of having a back up memory card with loads of spare items on it, in case of corruption/fsod, but both mem cards corrupted, so there was no point in that. I just think that if PSO is gonna corrupt me everytime I get somewhere with a char, there's absolutely no sense in playing. I really hope that Sonic Team make a better job of saving etc with Ep3.

I guess you didn't read the last post, or was in the process of posting before it came out.

I heard that PSO GC has *problems* with certain memory cards... maybe that could be why?

I know that's what happened to my buddy; he had one of those Mad Catz memory cards that have more space in it...

And he's corrupted twice, so now he's given up and is selling his bad-ass official Japanese PSO controller to me for a mere 30 bucks.

Well, I ain't complaining. ^_^ Would you?

Actually, my biggest whinge about that controller is that the keys are sized for five foot nothing nihonjin, which leaves my six foot something gaikokujin fingers a bit cramped. Still better than nothin', though, plus it's got style points!

It's possible.
I have never played this game online, although my files got corrupted twice due to the third-party memory card I was using. But ever since I switched to an offical memory card, it never happened again. Could that be the problem? *shrugs*

ah i see. Well then it must be with GC because the Xbox has never corrupted anything before.

Well,I've never currupted. I use third part memory cards too,and sometimes play on packed ships(I avoid them now more then I used to). There was some Sanji mishap that ended in my 2 second characters being erased,though...>.>
I'm not sure that you should stop playing if you have fun playing the game. If its really bugging you that much then I suppose you should stop. Its up to you really. If you don't like the game, like any other game, you shouldn't play it.

Uriko... u could probably just end your online experience with PSO, and play strictly offline, especially if you got ppl to play with offline-wise. I know it isn't as good, but at least you won't get corrupted (or could you, as I haven't played psogc enough).

I play online mainly for getting them items that are available that you cannot get offline. Sometimes chatting/playing if I'm in the mood... Losing a high lv character really does suck, I can't imagine losing mine... I do feel for you. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Ive been using a Logic 3 mem card, which I know isnt the best to choose :S My friend has corrupted as well, using an official GC mem card, so I dont think it's anything to do with mem cards, although I could be wrong. Talkin of mem cards, the one that corrupted hasnt been overwritten yet, in the hope that it'll sort out, but its sayin that it needs formatting now. Why didnt it tell me this when I first bought the card, damn thing. Ill probably continue online, but there's no denyin that corruption sucks.

i dunno if you can or not on PSOGC, because i don't play PSOGC, but i have a GC and my friend's file corrupted...try to transfer the data to a new mem card...ussually GC says there is some sort of corruption when there is not...I've not personally gotten a corrupted file, of course i play GC very little, but I know for a fact that it can get corrupted from -

Not having mem card all the way in...
Saving different countries games to same mem card...
pulling mem card out during play
GC doesn't like you (I'm serious...I've had a case where someone's GC corrupted every time he played it, but when i played it it was fine lol)

So yeah...With the crud job the ST did i wouldn't doubt that there is some residual JAP data within it I'd use seperate mem card for it...

Try moving the file if you can and then formatting i believe GC memcards keep their own code.
Buy new mem card Logic sux...for mem cards, unless it's company published it has a very high chance of corruption, shorting out, and many other things.
Whenever you play have someone else save lol
If you have the Jap/US/EU Translater mod thing, make sure you have the switch set right and that it has a switch or else that hieghtens chances of corruption as well...

In fact...just about anything not official made can corrupt so i suggest trying to use ONLY (Jap/US/EU) nintendo made controllers with nintendo made mem cards or do research on the companies ability to produce quality hardware for said system.

I know that mem cards can corrupt for all sorts of reasons, my friends mem card said it was damaged, so we put it on port 2 and it was fine :S Ive decided that im gonna go an buy an official card and re-start my er.. legacy, lol. Thanks for all the help people. I may have had 2 lost HUnewearls, but another wont go a miss....
