Now, I'm a total newbie to these boards but I don't get the clan thing : EA and DHS etc. Clans in Quake III - sure, you get off on having 'family' identity and backup. But PSO ?
What's the benefit in that? (unless you're all planning for a v2 bloodbath which, incidentally, us Brits aren't getting http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_frown.gif )

*awaits furious clan responses lol*

i must concur... the whole concept of a clan or a guild on PSO is pretty silly. The whole thing with clans on any FPS on PCs is the whole team play thing (going up against other clans) but here on PSO it seems like a moot point.

i guess with this whole battle mode thing coming up that'll all change... but PSO still doesn't seem like the kind of place for a clan. there just doesn't seem to be a point to it all.

Maybe I'm just missing something. A friend of mine was a member of Lost Boys and the only thing they ever did was give each other items that they duped for each other.

"Im on a roll. time to go solo."
you're not the only one who finds clans to be a silly idea.

I rather find the whole "clan" idea silly, but then I play mostly with my RL friends.

But so what? It's just another way for people to have fun with PSO. If that's what they find fun, what's wrong with that?

Yes the only reason for the clans would be the ver. 2 battle mood...why else would there be a reason for clans!

Nothing wrong with clans/guilds, they are created to promote social interests, create new friends, and what not. If you haven't noticed there have been tons of locked games at this time compared to the launch of PSO, so guilds are a great option for those who have started, say, a week ago.

ummm, ok http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif
My point was that PSO is an open-team game, i.e. each player helps the other (or that's the intention) over different levels, meeting different people. Clans suggest closed teamwork, if you see what I mean.
It just seems a shame that clan members would be pre-disposed to help ONLY other clan members ... or is that too much of an assumption to make ? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_wink.gif

Well if i sound like a brat, forgive me.

The whole clan thing is just a few people finding people to battle with and such,i would never ask to join a clan,if they want me in they have to ask me,if they dont its there loss,i mean,i have 1 Char lv 100,one close to lv 100,and 2 close to lv 40,if they dont think im good enough i say there nuts,i probly sound like a brat so ill just be quiet lol.

I wrote a very strongly worded comment in this debate about an hour ago which I decided on the balance of things not to post to preserve the peace.

However, the basic message of the post was to say that I really find it desparately sad when people have nothing better to do than point at other people's efforts and say "that's stupid". Ok, so it might seem that way to you, but common human decency usually dictates that you keep it to yourself.

The people who form clans obviously have their reasons (personally I'm interested in joining one to meet new people, but it's not going to dominate my entire game time). You obviously don't share these views, but is it really necessary to tell us all for no real good reason?

Hey, hold on there cowboy http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_frown.gif This is a forum - we debate and offer opinions. I didn't say mine was right or wrong (as no-one can), I just offered it for consideration.
I'm not knocking clans, rather I was hoping for someone to explain to me the requirement for them - I honestly don't get it, but maybe I'm just dense http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_wink.gif
Incidentally, if you read the original post you'll see that I'm not trying to get a rise out of anyone http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif
Chill out hon http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_wink.gif

I wasn't directly addressing you Buffy. I've seen quite a number of posts recently (not necessarily in this topic) where clans have just been dismissed as 'lame', 'crap', 'silly' etc... I appreciate that this is a forum and all opinions can be aired. However I still hold, that just because you can say something doesn't always mean you should. Tact is a valuable commodity and all too scarce these days.

I agree completely with you on the tact front S. I maintain, however, that there has been no malice in this thread http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_frown.gif , just a frank exchange of views, with a little humour thrown in here and there http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_wink.gif I don't see where any offence could be taken from ?
Anyway, might be best to leave this now, as it may be seen to be bashing people/groups which was definitely NOT the original intention.
* RIP thread *

P.S. I'll be on tonight, Iapetus early blocks, from UK 8pm-ish if anyone wants to join my clan lol http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_wink.gif
