Okay, kiddies, here's how it works.

I'll post a number, and the next person will square it (multiply it by itself), then the next person will square the square, then the next will post the square of the squared square.

1.1

(The number, 2, would get too huge, too fast. I want this to be long/drawn out.)

Enjoy. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

note to anyone posting here, don't post a number so long it stretches out the forum tables or this thread will be deleted

Hey lets take it back to middle school! Graph this line =D

Y=[(5x3.75)14]X+(360/6)

*wonders if he set that up right* Gah It's been a looooooong time since I've done math =P

Simplified to
Y= 14.75X + 60

Its a straight line which intercepts the y axis at X=4.13793 and the X axis at y=60

Anyone who solves this deserves a very large cookie
12X^2+19X-65=Y
Find both intercept points or solutions

x = 5/3, -13/4
I want a cookie, please. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

And 21.11377675.

Solve this:
5x^2 + 3x + 1 = y It's vaguely more fun than the first one. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

As for the trinomial, I know you have to foil it, but its way too late and I forget how to do it exactly =P

Oh Christ, that's easy. *grabs roll of aluiminum foil and wraps trinominal* See?

*shudders* You're bringing back memories of one of my old alcoholic math teachers. She had a poster with a guy wearing glasses and numbers on his face that explained foiling, and she sung songs. Scary songs... And her coffee thremos was half coffee, half Jack Daniels. Somethings you wish you could forget, but they are just burned into your brain.

Edit:

On a side note, is "X^2=-2" is that an imaginary number, or just no solution? I forgot exactly how it works but I remeber you can't square a number and get a negative. At least I don't think you can =/

Don't you get an imaginary number whenever you square route a negative number?

Yes, the solution is complex, as in a + bi. It's not too difficult if you just use the quadratic forumla. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif
FOILing is vile.
