Hey Watashiwa ( or anyone else),
I find it interesting that you were able to play the import Version 1 on your U.S. DC. But to ask a question about that...did you previously play the US version on the same DC or did you purchase a new one also? I thought that we could only play the copy that we originally "burned" into the DC. Umm if that is so, then how were you able to use another copy, never mind it being an import?
Of course the other question is that no one can be sure if we will be forced to enter into our DC another game "ID" code when we load up Version 2? For all we truly know it could just read the previous "Case Sensitive" information from Version 1. Just some general questions.
So I would gather that the information that we input for Dricas is fairly self explanatory?
Thanks http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif
Oh and no matter what, I've had my order in sine the 9th of April. If i can't get online I'll still enjoy my copy.http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_wink.gif

Yes, I'm playing US PSO as well as JP PSO on the same DC. I have absolutely no problems getting online with either copy and using my characters. Both copies have seperate serial numbers and access keys. It is my belief that the serial number and access key information is saved into the VMU file of your character as well as the CRC checksum of certain unmodifiable settings of your Dreamcast's internal memory. (Possibly the date the internal memory was initialized, etc,.) I do not believe serial # and/or access key is stored into the Dreamcast's internal memory. When your Dreamcast's internal memory is reset, what I believe to happen is the checksum of the date it was initialized or another value is changed. When you attempt to go online, the game checks the current state of the internal memory compared to what was saved previously in the VMU file. If it mismatches, it asks you to enter in your serial code again. It saves the new data into the VMU and then attempts to connect online. The reason you cannot get online at this point is because Sega now stores portions of the VMU file on the server. The VMU file on the server has the old data checksum at the point of what it was before the memory was reset. You then get the "Serial number in use" message and must call Sega for a server reset.

Agreed. Thats why you have to enter your serial every time you create a new charachter.

Cool thanks alot for the information. I guess non-stop playing of PSO has scrambled my brain a little bit, I should've realized all that to begin with (VMU info.) http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_eek.gif
