what should my new charachter and id be?

If you want to use shotguns, you've got to make a Ranger. The best section ID for shotguns is Viridia by far. You can even buy Crush Bullets in the shop at mid-high levels!

RAmar starts of weakest, but has the best growth potential. Max stats are almost as good as the others, but he can cast techniques also, which makes him far more powerful. Also, at any given level his lower ATP compared to the others is made up for with Shifta.

RAcast is most powerful (unshifta'd), but will max out ATP and ATA earlier than the other two. He's the biggest, and shotguns actually look proportional to him at max size. If you just want to get powerful quickest, RAcast is the best.

RAcaseal is similar to RAcast--same max stats. At low-mid levels, RAcaseal has higher ATA but less ATP than RAcast. This is good if you want to use the best guns sooner, but you should still concentrate on raising your Mag's Pow rather than Dex. (Otherwise, you'll max out ATA early on and struggle to raise ATP later on.)

The RAcaseal is also the least represented character class in the game. If you don't want to get lost in the croud, RAcaseal is the best.
