As am I... Like Brody said in Mallrats, what does one measure by?
One of my favorite creatures for sheer aesthetics is the Chinese Dragon. Beautiful creatures.
Unicorns have always been pretty cool too (hey, what can I say, Last Unicorn got me when I was young...)
Concept of the Phoenix is interesting as well.
Jormungandr, and most of Norse mythology for that matter.
So much to choose from!

All right, all right, I've got one.
The "Fear Liath More" impresses me more than any other mythic creature I've ever come across.
Here's what the Encyclopedia Mythica (http://www.pantheon.org/) has to say about it--
Fear Liath More, or the Grey Man, is a creature said to have inhabited the vicinity of the summit cairn of Ben MacDhui, one of the six great peaks of the Scottish Cairngorm Mountains, for generations. The Grey Man is identified as a presence encountered both physically and psychically. In its physical form, the Grey Man is most often described as quite large and broad shouldered, standing fully erect and being in excess of 10 feet in height, with long waving arms. He is also reportedly olive complected or, alternatively, covered with short brown hair. Because of this, some tend to associate him with the Bigfoot or Sasquatch of North American fame, or the Yeti of the Himalayas. Footprints found on the summit of Ben MacDhui do closely resemble the "typical" Bigfoot imprint. However, this association is misleading, as the Grey Man has far more interesting identifying characteristics than his physical description alone.
More frequently, the Grey Man is encountered in physical sensation, but without a true physical form. Sensations of this type include vast, dark blurs which obscure the sky, strange crunching noises, echoing footsteps which pursue the listener, an icy feeling in the surrounding atmosphere, as well as a physical feeling of a cold grip on, or brush against, the observer's flesh. There is also a high pitched humming sound, or the Singing as it is sometimes called, which is associated with Ben MacDhui and the Grey Man.
Additionally, the Grey Man has an extremely powerful psychic effect. Visitors to Ben MacDhui report a feeling of overwhelming negative energy. Occasionally this is described as extreme lethargy and despondency. More often, it is typified by acute fear, apprehension and an overwhelming panic, leading to suicidal thoughts or physical flight from the area. Generally, this fear is accompanied by the physical sound of echoing footsteps chasing the observer, and sometimes the sound of a resonant and yet completely incomprehensible voice which seems to be faintly Gaelic in nature.
Curiously, the Grey Man has a distinct area of influence. At a certain point in their downward flight all observers report that the negative energies and feelings of fear end as abruptly as they began. The Grey Man has most often been encountered within this century by mountaineers climbing in the Cairngorms. He has also been described in several books, including Affleck Gray's The Big Grey Man of Ben MacDhui and F.W. Holiday's, The Goblin Universe.

Let me see...
The "Sidhe", or however you want to pronounce it, since they're "good" Faeries but pretty darn evil at the same time.
Rappies.
Dragons and the like.
Elves (and Unicorns when I was a wee lad), but the kind that kill you 5 times with arrows before you hit the ground, Warcraft type.
Er, and other creatures that have been forgotten.
Dragon as well http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif

According to Webster's dictionary, mythical means imaginary; not real. In my belief, Angels are real. So I can't agree with you on that one.
My favorite mythical creature is the Unicorn. Horses are amazing creatures. But horses with a horn on their head.... now that's an amazing creature with a weapon http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif
X...Did you have that dictionary on your lap? The one you showed me in school? http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif
And I'll go slightly with X on the horse part...But what about a horse with wings? Pegasus, anybody?

Fraegerthach the Answerer. Famed sword of the Irish sea-god, Mannaman Mac Lir. Has the rune (get this...) Eihwaz carved into the blade. This grants him a sheild of invincibility of sorts.

Behold "Freagerthach the Answerer" - fabled Gaelic sword of the Irish sea god Manannan Mac Lir. It incorporates the magic rune Eihwas on the blade (thought to invoke a "shield of safety" through which no evil could penetrate).
You can also spell the rune with a Z, hence my screename. Zs are cooler than Ss. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I've sympathized with the dragons of both Asia and Europe. I say sympathized because very often I know exactly how they feel: Impossible power, immeasurable wealth, eternal life, every guy you see's trying to take you down and every girl thinks you're going to destroy her.

Phoenix (mythology), legendary bird that lived in Arabia. According to tradition, the phoenix consumed itself by fire every 500 years, and a new, young phoenix sprang from its ashes. In the mythology of ancient Egypt, the phoenix represented the sun, which dies at night and is reborn in the morning. Early Christian tradition adopted the phoenix as a symbol of both immortality and resurrection.

You must consider, however, that he's not refering to Biblical angels (who are all masculine in nature, if you hadn't noticed), but specifically to the aestetically pleasing, and decidedly fictional "sexy female" angel.
I do believe in angels, but he wasn't refering to angels in the way that we believe in them, but rather, a fictional off-shoot of the general idea.

Gorgon:
In Greek mythology a Gorgon is a monstrous feminine creature whose appearance would turn anyone who laid eyes upon it to stone. The Gorgons are monstrous creatures covered with impenetrable scales, with hair of living snakes, hands made of brass, sharp fangs and a beard. They live in the ultimate west, near the ocean, and guard the entrance to the underworld. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif
and... Pegasus:
In Greek mythology, Pegasus is the winged horse that was fathered by Poseidon with Medusa.

Leprachauns! You finally find one after years of searching, and manage to somehow capture him. Blink and he's gone. Look away and he's gone. Make a deal with him and you're cursed or he's gone. Take his pot of gold and you're cursed then hunted down like a crippled albino deer in the middle of a clearing in hunting season.
Either way, you're screwed and he gets the gold.

the story of Grey Man sounds more like cryptozoology than mythology. how has his story effected the world view and creation stories of scottish and celtic mythology? interesting, but (and this may be hair splitting to many) i don't know if Grey Man can qualify exactly.
without choosing a god from mythology... hmm, this is tough. probably either the Queztals or Naga. I'd say dragon, phoenix, unicorn, but they're so overdone as to become trite. the White Lady and Wailing Lady have a special place in my heart, too.

I would like to now how consuming one's cranium transforms the victim into said cranium consumer. Obviously some chemical reaction, like in RE. I saw Night od the Living Dead, that movie was funny, 'cause the zombies were actually intelligent.
