I have a cache of 200+ dice. You can rent them by the second.

For how much-per-second?

Ok, sweet. Everyone roll up a few characters. This is gonna be a massacre of a campaign.

When lacking dice, I like to pull out a TI-83 or TI-86 calculator, myself.

EDIT: That actually makes me think...

Recently, I've been gradually picking up some momentum toward re-starting my old home-brewed RPG...

I may have to get some simple software put together so I can host a few games online. I don't suppose anyone around these parts would be interested in participating in a game placed in a setting that's been completely and entirely developed by myself, personally?

Well, see, it's basically just pig shoulders... Though sometimes some actual ham sneaks in there. There are also various spices and such that are added, and the "jelly" on top is made by boiling down the skin.

For the record, "SPAM" stands for "Spiced Ham," not "Specially Prepared Artificial Meat," or "Stuff Posing As Meat."

It's essentially a Sci-Fi setting, but it's likely to take place pretty much at any point in the past, present or future. It's rather centered around a race that develops technology considerably faster than humans do, but on the other hand, this race's purpose in existence is to protect humans from any harm that might come to them from demons. There are slight religious overtones to it, but I try to stay away from maintaining any level of Biblical accuracy that would make the references to angels and God anything more than the stereotypical mythical view of "Heaven" and the like.

Just plain good storytelling, really. Plus, if you like Dragoon, you'd LOVE Mr. Blue, who is also played by my Brother-in-law.

Mr. Blue is one of the characters that my brother-in-law made for my home-brewed RPG. He is a demon who has chosen to walk the path of good, but is completely and utterly incapable of doing so. As such, he basically has no common sense, and somehow has developed a horde of minions that have even less sense than he does.

One classic example...

When he discovered that his female companion was pregnant with triplets, he used a fusion spell to make them into one... Thus, his son is aptly named, "Mr. Glue".

Another example...

There is a tribe of Native Americans that worships him as a god, for reasons that escape me at the moment. On one visit he had with them, one of the women gave him a child as an offering. Since then, he has taken the child as his own, often equipping him with shield spells, and hurling him at his opponents.

He is also a master of rubber band shooting. Those little buggers can be lethal, you know.

Ultimately, Mr. Blue is an exaggeration of all the most readily observable points in my brother-in-law's perosnality. Clever without a purpose, confusing, compulsive and maybe most importantly, big enough to hurt you.

And Navi, yeah, you can thank the stand-up comedian, Bill Engvahl(sp?) for that one.

Is it any fun??!!

HUnewearl_Meira

Whether or not it's fun depends on your Game Master.

If you've got a GM that's good at writing, and is either well-organized, or especially deft at improvising, then it can be particularly entertaining. If, on the other hand, the GM is entirely unprepared and low on imagination, then it's kinda crappy.

Back in High School, we had a Game Master that was a master of improvising. He was so good at improvising, in fact, that he had difficulty discerning between stuff that actually does happen in real life, and stuff that just happened in his head. He lived his life in improve-mode.

I still see him every now and then. I should get my crap together and invite him over some time for a weekend of games, or something...

From what I just read on the net...it sounds a little weird. You basically just use your imagination thats it? I'm more of a visual person so I don't think I'd like it. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_no.gif

so i'm guessing this is a text game with a so-called random dice number generator? sounds fun, now if i only had the time. Ah, the wonders of roleplay... (though I hate math, but at least it keeps out godmoders, those evil bastards, and sets limits to make it challenging to become uber-powerful)

I've, uh... never been able to get through any sort of tabletop role-playing without doodling. I think it's a fairly common occurrence for us with shorter attention spans.

Man, I have so many D&D character sketches laying around...

Not exactly text-based. On the internet, it'd be all text, I suppose (unless you get a voice conference going for whatever reason), but in person it's mostly verbal with a set of numbers to compare to dice rolls that represents your character in the imaginary world you're dealing with.

And DarthFomar, yeah, it does rely rather heavily on people using their imaginations, but it's really not a whole lot more than a series of hypothetical situations in a group. If you've ever entertained yourself by bullshitting about a hypothetical situation with your friends, then you'll likely enjoy playing RPGs.

I dunno, I've had fun just converting videogames to tabletop RPGs. My personal favorites were Resident Evil and Chrono Trigger. (I especially liked Resident Evil set... each campaign is engineered to last as little as a few hours max, and all you need is a twenty-sided die. To be fair, I never had a real play test of it, though...)

The pride and joy of my friends though, was the Dragonball RPG we created. While not quite perfect, we still believe that given another month or so to test it, it would've been the perfect set of rules to represent the Dragonball universe.
