1 + 1 + 1 = 142
Make the statement true... Keepin in Mind...
x Doing one change (and only one change) to the problem
x Never Changing the =142 Side.

Hint- each single Number is ONE Change (so 23 is two changes .... 2 and 3)

lets see if anyone will get this! No Kanji tricks this time!

Tingle, if I've learned anything while here at FKL, it's that math is never fun.

1 + 1 + 1x = 142

That x can be anything, thereby making this an operable statement.

Mixfortune
Jun 9, 2004, 11:24 AM
I've seen this before but had forgotten the answer.
The only thing I can think of at the moment is 1 + 1 + 12 = 14, but that changes the equals sides... so bleh.

And Meira has it, now that I think about it.

And it doesnt include X's at all.

Lets go back to 2nd grade math

turn the second + into a 4 by adding a line.

1 + 141 = 142

ombres
Jun 9, 2004, 11:58 AM
heheheh thanks mix could not get the grab on the anwser till you say that
then 1+1+1=142 become 141+1 = 142 change the first + with the 4 or even puttint a line in the plus to make him a 4.

Nice one go more?

Sef

I dunno in what context you mean, but...

If it's for paying for something, a fairly old bill could work just fine, but wouldn't necessarily be better.

If it's for collector's value, then an old bill would certainly be more valuable than a new one, provided you could prove its authenticity.

If it's for snorting cocaine, you'll want a new one, for certain.

Ah, but the older one may have some cocain left over from the last owner, which means you would get more cocain.

I didn't feel like making another thread, so I'll just post a riddle here... an easy one:

A guy is lying in the dessert [the sandy kind], dead. He has a ring on his finger and a backpack on, how did he die?

anyhow, Meira is halfway right, because it's in the dessert! Such as the Saharah dessert, I even put "the sandy kind" to point out the type of dessert I was talking of. OF course, it could have all been in sarcasm >.>

It is obvious that Vador cut off his finger before using the force to give the man a heart attack.

no, but I'll give you guys a friggen hint. The finger is synthetic, and it still goes along with the riddle's grammar because it is a finger, and it is owned by the guy. It like how the guy had a backpack and ring on his finger, but you never say the two are connected by a string. [see first riddle]
