The only times I drop it in real life are when I'm extremely pissed or when I'm around my friends and it would sound funny in a sentence. One more exception is when I quote a movie/song line. It's the same online.

But Jesus, some people need to think about how they speak. I was leaving school today (finals and we got out early) and I was waiting to get a coke at the vending machine. A group of kids were talking about skateboarding nearby, and I quote:

Dude, my fucken board's fucken heavy as fuck.

And that was one of the cleaner things said. Is it really necessary to say fuck every other word???

No kidding... Even ignoring the vulgarity of it, as with any word, it loses its effectiveness when repeated so often... Makes the speaker sound less intelligent. That particular sentence would've been much more effective at emphasizing the point, if all but the last instance of the word were omitted.


Personally, I try to avoid cursing in my writing (though it's not uncommon to catch me cursing otherwise). It's generally unnecessary to include the actual words, as a simple, "VanGarrett cursed" tends to get the point across rather effectively.

To be honest, most countries are no where as near religous as they used to be. Swearing should only be offensive to religous people. "Fuck" is now used to replace many words, it's very flexible and imo a useful adjective :

It's only useful because it's a curseword, though.

Interestingly, when the word first appeared, it wasn't considered vulgar at all. It meant "To Strike" or something like that.

yes, i get what your saying Allos, while I don't say "fu." [filter] alot, I say "sh." and "da." To me words are words, there is nothing vulgar about them. Sure, the definition is bad, but if it's just thrown in there in a way that wouldn't make sence then the person I guess doesn't see it as vulgar. Honestly, I don't think there is any vulgarity in any of them, it's just the way some of soceity uses them. If you say "I have to take a sh.it" why should it be any diffrent then "To have to take a dump". I'd like to know why curse words became considered vulgar, no doubt it probably has something to do with religion, but I don't know that, and no one should turn that into a flame, as it is an honest guest. Lots of stuff we do today was started because a religion or someone in a religion (and applied it to the event) did something.

Though saying "fuck" constantly can be annoying, most people will agree that shouting it at the top of your lungs can be a better pain killer than Advil.

I find that it is best used spatingly for comedic purposes. For a good example, watch the Daily show.
It even seems to be more effective when "bleeped" out.

All things considered though, "Fuck" is really the only curse word that's seriously a curse word, these days. It may be losing its grip, but it's still the most offensive, nonetheless. With the possible exception of a certain word that reminds people of slavery in the Southern states of the US. Though that word seems to be casually tossed around between black people quite a bit, too. If a white guy says it though... He'd better be prepared to make a break for it.

Indeed, once you start over-using any swear word, it really loses its potency. That's why I like to use made-up words or random combinations of words as insults/curses. In fact, old or out-of-date ones work wonderfully, too.

Well, the best was in the recent book. There was a chapter called "The Eye of the Snake."

It dealt with Harry getting intimate with a friend, but it doesn't say that all they did was kiss until the very end.
