I've been online daily and there is a big rumor flaoting around that the PSO DC server will be down on June 10th.
Some said it's only for PSO version 1 players(damn that's me) and others say its for V1 and 2.
Can anyone confirm or deny this as it's keeping me awake at night.:-[

I wouldn't sweat it too much...rumors like this have been floating around for well...about a year or so now, and wouldn't you know it? The servers are still up.
As long as ST can keep making money off us, I doubt they'll shut the servers down.
*cough* I haven't heard anything about this. But I doubt they going to shut them down, I mean come on, It's PSO! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

It better be continue.
i talked to this one guy who said he had called the SEGA helpline or whatever and talked to a represenative that said the servers would be up untill februay of next year, that makes sense, if the GC version is out by then to close the servers. i know sega shut a couple JP servers down earlier this monthto test the GC online aspect. i just bout another HL so it better keepit up for at least 3 more months

You know, they really shouldn't shut down the servers. They could save money and make everyone happy at the same time by making the DC versions compatible with the GameCube and PS2 versions. Make them all use the SAME servers. Add some stuff into the newer games to make PSO Episodes 1 & 2 games only, kinda like in PSOver2 for DC. Why be idiots and buy a whole new server when you can use the current one and save a ton of money? The only way I could see the servers shut down is if they were getting better ones that can handle all the traffic coming from all 3 systems. Even then, the DC version should still use the same servers as the new games. That's just stupid to shut down the server after adding the word ONLINE to the title of the game.

yea. they should keep the servers up for at least until the end of this year. (although i cant even play my dc http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_cry.gif ) but for those who still play it.

they will never do the dreamcast being compatible thing, for the simple fact of cheating. It would be too easy to get rares that some one made with an xploader, so there would once again be no rare weapons..... Thank all the cheaters for that

I remember SEGA saying the servers won't be comming down in the forseeable future. They probably won't shut it down till the number of people with licenses goes down to a certain number.

I hope they are up for a long, long time. I miss playing and am about to get another HL cuz I miss it so much, the sounds of the lobby, the screams of Bartle, spash of water... *drools*

Is impossible to put GC and DC players in same server, the game has changed a lot. And I don't mean only new features the code fo the game is completely different, impossible to play in same servers
the xbox and gc versions were supposed to be compatible online but they scrapped that, because it was too difficult to code, but there should be no problems making ps2 and gc compatible online in the future.
Too difficult to code? Where do you people come up with this stuff?
Anyways, to answer the question, ask yourself this... if Sega was shutting down the servers, don't you think they'd announce it beforehand?

Hehe, not to be funny or anything, but they really never have updated the US PSO site since launch date. =P
They never announce new quests, unexpected maintenance, or anything.
I wouldn't actually be surprised if they did pull the plug one day and not say anything about it.

Watashiwa is correct, Sega has been dropping the ball when it comes to responsibly giving ample or any forecasts whatsover on what's going on. But don't give Sega the bad eye, X box said that they would never drop their console price and the next day, bam..Nintendo said absolutely never, and when X box dropped their price, bam $149. This proves about how useless rumors are when the actual big guys don't even know what they're talking about. So don't worry, just play the game and let the maintenance and server problems to the maintenance and server fixers.

Wrong, Nintendo and Microsoft reps said that, not the big wigs who control that stuff.
As far as the lowly media peons knew, the pricepoint was firm.
I was anti-PS2 up until I actually bought one and played, even though I swore that I'd never waste my money on a "PoS2".
Anything's possible, except for GC, DC, and X-box PSO being compatible. :
X-box Live is a closed server system and too many cheaters messed up PSO and PSOv2.
If Sega were to shut down the PSO servers, they could do so whenever they felt like it, and no, they would not have to refund your money. It might sound outrageous, but it's true.
They've never announced anything before-- not quests, server maintenence, or even a list of banned items.
Don't expect them to give you ample warning when they close the servers.
And they will.
Someday. o_O

Ouch! Unexpected plug pull for the thousands of regular users(especially JP).
SEGA has always been the innovator in terms of what a game console can achieve. With Dreamcast it was out of the box internet capabilities yet the games came months later.
To pull the plug unexpectedly is feasible as the slower DC server games have been shutting down as of late; Alien Front Online for one.
But isn't Sonic Team solely responsible for PSO maitenence? Not SEGA of America? Those coders would then be put to use on GC PSO and whatever.
Life is harsh but lets hope for the best and enjoy PSO as nothing good, close to great, lasts forever.

A friend of mine is having trouble connecting with her PSOv1, is the server down or is she having a huge connection problem?
Shotie

Probably having connection problems. I've seen v1ers on lately.

PSO for the DC is dying... there're WAY fewer people than usual (block 11 in Miranda isn't full no more), and can't see JP ships unless you select EU. I keep getting RSOD in EU ships and I hate it there.

honestly, i wouldnt really care if they pulled the plug. i mean, seriously, as of RIGHT NOW, hardly anyone plays. the majority of ppl who play are cheaters, and jp ppl (who are mostly on when it's noon here in ontario, then its hard to find a c-mode team without em).
hardly any of my friends play anymore, so you just have to look at the facts: online pso is hardly fun anymore, and it's just going to keep getting more boring as more and more ppl quit playing.

That's the sad truth http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif
hells no they arent gonna tell you when this crap hole is gonna sink....they want you thinking this is gonna last forever so just when you purchase a new hunters license, oh the gc ver is out and sega net is dead. time is money to them and anything to delay production. like difficulty coding, theyre gonna cut it from the game to save money, people are still gonna buy it.

The DC version is supposed to die. A long time ago they were just doing a port, but they decided to move ahead in the world of PSO and give us PSO Episode 1 and 2. The sheer amount of crap going on in this makes it ridiculous to think they could ever have the DC people on it. Not to mention most DC people, like me, will go to GameCube when it comes out.
When Ep1&2 comes, the DC versions are obsolete and need to be shutdown. They should probably shut em down now and get some heavy testing in. PSO is having a rebirth, not a new friend. Time to jump in the time machine and move forward.

The Servers won't have a chance of coming down until THE SIGNUP PAGE IS SHUT DOWN.

Nooooooo! So that's why I kept being disconnected -_- Now what am I gonna do with my mic? I bet it's not worth buying Propeller Arena: aviation Battle Championship since I bet that game' servers too were shut down ._. O well, I'll just try to make a bomb out of it and plant it in the basement of SEGA's headquater ...
I'll be there on june 10th and if the servers drop, then I'll drop with them, if not, well, I'll just keep playing till I die or till I get curropted.

Use the mic to bitch at Seaman about PSO's death. It will be calming and healing for you.
Times change and people will still buy PSO for slight innovations or changes... sad indeed.
I am online a lot. I have a group of close legit friends and we play til the sun goes down and beyond. I need version 2 but it is outdated by 8 or so months. I see that there are less and less people online including a scary, empty Miranda which only weeks ago had three blocks with 130+ people overflowing the servers.
SEGA may keep the DC servers up for the $15 fee of the thousands who pay it(including many JP for $8 and they have had the game for over a year.) Not everyone who pays it will run off to buy the Gamecube version if it is shut down immediately upon the release of Episode 1&2 only because they have to. SEGA may or may not have the resources to keep two servers up and running.
I wish a non-cheater and cheater server would exist for the new versions. Make a way to detect cheat devices that are plugged in and force those to an alternate server to cheat as much as they want...with less features and options of course http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

The japanese site is updated quite often, saying all maintenances and updates. They should say it in the japanese website before closing PSO DC servers

Darn, if only the site was accessible in a bad Japanglish setting to try to decipher the darn thing.

There's a reason Miranda is empty nowadays. I've heard there's a glitch or bug affecting Jp players. Apparently when they goto the US servers they get d/c, stranded there, or can't goto the US servers in the first place. Just what I heard, not sure how true it is. But it makes sense why Miranda got so desolate all of a sudden.

It's probably just that the links between the PSO servers have been broken at a number of ships. That would happen a good number of times, when I still played PSO.
