Ok kiddies, i have checked out a few import sites and heres what i got 4 ya. I checked tronix, upstate games, the rage, and lan kwei trading, and none of them had any pre order 4 pso GC. BUT when i checked out NCSX....*drum roll*, they had it ready 2 go on pre-order. Maybe its not a big a deal as i make it seem, but come on, its xciting. Now heres the bad part 4 some. They had 2 diff packages set up. One was without the online adapter and it was 60 bucks. The 2nd was with the online adapter and it was like 95 bucks. NOW neither of them said anything about the KB, which they also have on pre-order 4 60 bucks. Im not sure if u get the KB with both packages, or if u have 2 get it seprately, BUT if u have 2 get it seprate, its gonna cost us more than we xpected.

Ok i just emailed NCSX and asked about the KB. Another reason i posted this is NCSX is way more reliable than BUYWRONG...

Well NCSX hasnt responded 2 my email yet, but i searched their whole site and found that it seems like u will have 2 buy the KB separately. Maybe a diff import site will have the KB bundled with the game and online adapter, but as 4 right now i dont think NCSX will...which means we may have 2 spend up 2 as much as 200 dollars on importing this game. U figure 95 for the game and online adapter. 60 for the KB, then u throw in shipping, it may be around 200 bucks when we r done.

That is kinda pricy...I'm just gonna stay American this time. Much easier.
Oh, and yes, BUYRITE IS HORRIBLE!!! They sent me the wrong product and I sent a mail asking their policy on the returny thing and ended up having to call them(horrible support, bad English). And truly, a YEAR LATER I get my email back and my face drops to see that type of stupidity.

U tellin me, pricy as hell. It could be over 200 bucks 2 play the game online. I think i may just get the game and play it offline until the US release. But we will see...

Don't get me started on buyrite. I bought a PS1 and it came on time, so I figured "Why not order again?" I ordered 2 copies of Capcom vs. SNK, and it took them 2 months to send me one. Man....

So AynRand, which did u pre-order, did u get just the game, or did u go all out and get the game, modem and KB. Im just curious what others are doing because of the price tag.

Phantasy Star Online 1 & 2 Bundle [JPN Preorder]
Sega
This PSO 1+2 bundle includes the 56K modem required to go online. Note that the keyboard is not included but sold separately here.

Preorders for the Japanese Gamecube game Phantasy Star Online 1 & 2 Bundle ship automatically on August 8, 2002.

I'm guessing you have to buy the keyboard seperately.

Yeah, they responded 2 my email and said they were going 2 change the item details so they didnt have 2 answer a ton of emails of that same question. So see, i helped every1 out that might have had the same question.
Go me...

Ok, I have 2 more important questions about importing. 1st, if we import the KB as well, will it be in Japanese, or English. I dont know any japanese and i dont want a japanese KB. Second, what isp's will the GC version run with. I know with PSO on DC AOL wouldnt work, so will it work now, or what???

From looking at the keyboard it has both Japanese and English letters on it. I think. I definitely know I saw QWERTY on the upper right section of the letters.

QueenBee
06-05-2002, 02:31 PM
Well if u saw those letters on the right side, then that KB must be backwards, cause WERTY is on the left side of my KB. I just hope you are right. Backwards or not, i just wanna be able 2 know what letters i would be typing. Now does any1 know anything about the isp's this time around???

IGN said you can connect from outside of jpn and the setup doesn't use the whole dricas thing, although they didn't say how it would work (I assume the same way as US pso v2). I also understand that it's pretty easy to set up the isp.

QueenBee

RBF, i never went online when i got my import of V2, so i dont really understand. Could u elaborate a little more. So r u sayin AOL would work now??? Im confused

watashiwa
06-05-2002, 02:42 PM
I doubt AOL would work. I think any ISP that supports pure dialup networking style connection, which isn't AOL since you need to use their software to connect, should work just fine.

06-05-2002, 02:46 PM
Well that fuckin sux, i cancelled my other isp. Shit. Well guess ill have 2 get another. So Wata, do u know if the KB is in english as well??? Oh and also Wata, what are u planning on doing about importing. R u gonna get everything or save some cash and not get everything???

Don't know. I already ordered everything. I ordered the Modem+Game+Keyboard already. When BBA comes out or is available for pre-order, I will order that too.

Oh, I LOVE NCSX.

I ordered PSO V2 a week after it came out, and it arrived 3 days after I purchased it. It took the whole day to set it up right, but with the thanks of Wata my dear, I got online.. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Man this is going to cost a LOT for me...

60 for the Game (estimate)
35 for BBA (estimate)
10 to mod my cube(estimate)
60(?!?!) for the KB (estimate)
20 or so for shipping..
-----------------------------------
185.00 about. So I should start saving now..

Actually... lucky for me my Birthday is Aug. 3rd so my Bday money will more than cover PSO! Yay!

Yeah, that 60 bucks 4 a damn KB is alot. It better be able 2 cook or clean or something.

lol, it better type for you for 60 bucks!

but actually, any kb which is graced by the magnificent Gamecube controller is worth any amount of money... http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

You can Pre-order from tronix at anytime. They don't need to have the producy on the site yet. (I've been doing it for years) http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

Uhm... any Japanese keyboard is suitable to type in English as well.

A JP keyboard has the same latin alphabet letters on it (mine, for example, is a QWERTY model).

Maybe the keyboard don't have special Western keys (such as vowels with accent and so on, but for English mother tongue people this is not a problem).

The point is: there are a couple of special buttons (usually located near the space bar); by pressing these buttons you can activate the kanji, katakana or latin mode.

In DC PSO, if you select English as game language, you simply can't type in Japanese even if you have the Japanese keyboard. In order to do this you have to set the Japanese language in the Options menu.

Hope to has been clear. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/cat.gif

Well it actually did help a little, but my biggest concern was the actual letters on the KB were in Japanese.

Sorry... I think it's my english... I can't express myself in the proper way ^_^;

A Japanese characters *only* keyboard doens't exist anymore.

Maybe old PCs may have a JP only keyboard.

All the Japanese keyboards feature Western letters as *primary* letters and Japanese ideograms.

sarcasm noted.

What I meant was, I wasn't sure where I should have it shipped. Since i don't know my college address and all. But since I will still be at my house when the game comes out I will have it shipped there.
