The Behavioural Patterns of the Common Ragol Pofuilly Slime

I've been playing PSO with a multitude of characters lately, and I've come to realize, that Pofuilly slimes, which bothered me before on account of wasting my time, are actually far more frustrating than I found them at first.

My first character had no trouble with them. I was a RaMar. All I did was shoot them http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

My Second character was a FoMarl. Casting Fire on it, it split for the first time.. so I figured, "Okay, don't use fire." Switch to lightning, that seemed to work. Lightning it is. But then they split after being hit by that. So much for that theory, maybe all magic causes this?

That theory didn't last long either, as my third character, a HuneWearl, had a roomful of them fighting them off with *daggers*...

And the point to this story? Just what *does* cause them to split like that?

Okay, here's the deal. First of all, the best way to make a Pofuilly stop wasting your time is to stop moving. As Rico says, it attacks at close range, so let it catch up and then freeze.

Once you have the chance to damage it, you get exactly one hit before it reverts to puddle form. I advise using Heavy Attacks, because you need to do as much damage as you can.

Now, as for it splitting: if you hit a Pofuilly with any manner of tech, it'll split. That includes the ice breath attack of other Pofuillies as well. If you hit it with the third hit of a combo attack, it may/will split. If you freeze it (by tech or by weapon ability), it may split. And finally, if you miss one too many times, it'll split.

Splitting slimes can be useful, because you increase your chances of meeting a red slime.
And that red could give a rare.

The quickest way to kill a/all slimes is the trap mine from a Droid.
The easiest way for a droid to split a slime, is to use a red handgun special (Zonde) from a distance.
You'll miss the first hit, the 2nd too, but the 3rd will hit and split the slime.
Repeat and then bomb them all.

Got a red slime that way with my RAcaseal and got ... Zilch.

Twin Blaze is the rare from it?

I find that if you move a bit it pops up quicker.

They seem to have an optimum distance from you at which the pop up, so when they glide past you, step a wee bit to the left or right and chances are it'll come up straight away.
Works all the time with me...
