Here I am folks, with one day left until my BBA finally arrives. I'm excited to play online... if it works.

Assuming (happily with naivete that it in fact does work, I want to know about online gaming. I guess for starters, I should be looking up how to join a game... Adam's Phantasy Star Tutorial helped me a notch on that, and I guess I won't have too much trouble.

Any advice or tidbits will be greatly appreciated.. For starters, some questions:

-What should I do without a keyboard? I ended up being unable to find one that ships here, so I will have to stick with shortcuts. Any suggestions?
-What level is approximately an "average" level? Being level 41, I'm scared that many of the games will be on ultimate, and will be unable to play. Otherwise, I'm scared that no one will join at my low level.
-What are some benefits, by means of your character/items or just socially of playing online?

Meh... looking at this post makes me sound like a n00b... oh well, thanks a lot guys!

the lvls varies from time to time but many people here have char that are on vhard so that wont be a problem to find people to play with. But the KB thing is that if no one ships there and you checked all the gaming stores there and still no KB then it looks like you are stuck with the soft KB until you find a way to get a kb. Good luck and enjoy your online experience.

Thus spaketh Nazo:

Wouldn't worry about that at all. Vhard/hard games seem to be the most scarce at times. While I've noted more normal and Ult games on some of the ships I frequent, (Vega and Altair). You also might find that some of the Ult players don't mind coming down into the lower level games to help the lower level players out.

Not sure I really understand the question. Personaly, I like to try to be a team player, (my character being a Hucaseal), I try to protect the main magic thrower in the group, especially if they are a lower level then myself. They've kept me alive more often the once. I've also sheparded lower level characters so they can gain expierience, i.e I might take one whack or toss up a freeze mine and then let the other person kill it off. If another person's kill results in a red box and they killed it, I let that person have the box. Or if its a red box item that I can't use, I give it to the character in the group that can use it. If I have special weapons that I know longer use, and if the person hasn't been to much of a A$$ going thru the levels, I'll pass it down. Return the favor so to speak, as others have done for me.

But this is my style of play, your mileage my vary!

Sadly tho, your going to run up against the pitiful few whose sole object is to ruin your expierence, "item grabbing", killing everything in the room before anyone else gets a chance, "hacked" players with "uber" weapons, "spammers". But thats just part and parcel of the online experience as far as I'm concerned and don't pay it much mind. Theres other ships out there, and other folks to play with.

Just be lucky you got online so soon. I played until level 130 before I got online. Then I played and made many new characters and... well... got really bored. So now i play pso when i feel like it and when my GC actually lets me play it.

Woah, I find that there are hardly any Very Hard games! @_@ Most of them usually are full or locked or the quest is started.

But don't worry I have a long way to go to Ultimate so I'll be sure to start a few V. Hard games for you! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

Visited the EU servers for the first time tonight. And on the first ship I visited, (can't remember it for the life of me), there was one person spamming my name in the lobby, and only one other person, (french I believe), who was in a game. When is the best time to go on those?

The guy spamming your name was FSODing the people that try to come in after you....

Ahhh... I see. I guess it won't be terrible.

Actually, I've just faced another problem. I discovered that I have to get my disc traded in with v1.1, which I'll have trouble doing.. =(... But I hope it works out.

Thanks a lot guys, I'm really looking forward to going online in about a week or two.
