The reason I'm asking this is so I can buy the GC modem early without fear of it not working when I need it to once I get PSO in october.

Yes, the modems are universal, so there's no need of worrying about importing or not.

Oh, alright, I was just making sure. The dreamcast was like that but didn't know if it was the same way. well, guess I'll go order one sometime after the JP release, then. And... um, right about what, exactly?

Aaa, I'm the same Ziggy in the chat room. I told it probably worked whether it was US or JP modem, because it's hardware.

I think most video game periphreals are universal a lot of the time, i.e. controllers, mem cards, modems, etc

Yes but the actual hareware is universial, so the person above you was right.

Yea, and the person above you was also right. o.O
Anyways, is there a certain way to format a memory card, or what?

Whenever you save a JP or US file to a mem card for GC it formats it to that region. So that means that unlike with PS2, PS and DC you can't save US and JP data on the same mem card.
are all of us who are going to import need to buy a JP Gamecube or is there a disc that changes thte NTSC to PAL...or is there a chip (i ain't chippin my GC..no matter how much PSO may be sweet..i was just wondering bout the options)

You either have to have a JP or modded GC. And those both use NTSC.

One thing i'd like to know for people using the supposed boot disk thats meant to be coming out is how the memory card formatting will work. I'm not sure if the PAL GC has the JP or US bios in it so that could be a problem for them.
I have a modded JP system tho so i don't have to worry heh
But how are we going to pay to play? well i guess credit card:p LOL but it will prob be confusing..hmmm so i guess i should send my GC to colorconsoles huh? get it colored and modded....i guess that sounds good..one more question....can i just buy a japanese mem card, modem , and game? instead of formatting mem cards and stuff? will a japanese mem card work on a us GC? also what are good import sites?
there are no japanese or us mem cards, you just cant have japanese data and US data on the same card.
