I dunno if this has been posted, but PSO Plus is coming to US in Q3 2004, which isn't too far away.

Awesome news!

Lets hope it gets an EU release too...

The page comes up fine for me. Not sure why it's giving people errors :s

Go to Nintendo.com (http://nintendo.com), go to the search box, type in "Phantasy Star Online".

I believe it is the first result.

Interesting. I may pick this up, in case I ever want to solo tower, or if I ever get online taken away (school, or other reasons), I can still hunt some online only items. And then there is Ep 2 C-Mode offline (I just love the looks of the rings).

I can't solo online because I can't get back online (I've had more than one credit card issue). Believe me, if I could have gotten back online this summer as planned, by now I would have had one... if not two of my targeted God/Ability units. But alas, that is not what has happend, and my problems seem to only get bigger. Therefore, PSO Plus seems like a perfectly good idea. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_yes.gif

The current problem is with the JP PSO 1.0 and JP PSO+. There isn't enough news to know anything about PSO+ US yet. I checked both the Nintendo site, and SoA, neither said anyting about losing character data.

Most likely it will be compatable with your current HL (PSO 1&2 and Ep 3 are).

I recall people transferring over. Only time it wasn't possible is if you had an import v1 trying to go to domestic v2 or vice versa.

Nai_Calus
07-07-2004, 11:30 PM
Lain, JP v1.1 is cross-compatible with JP PSO+. Your characters load up as normal on PSO+, and will load up as normal if you switch back to the v1.1 disk. You're thinking of the issues with JP v1.0.

And I wasn't even ON DC and I know you could go from v1 to v2 with the same character. XP That was one-way, though.

Arislan
07-07-2004, 11:33 PM
V1 allowed transfer to V2 with no item loss
Plus allows for transfer from 1.0 to Plus with item loss, and from 1.1 with no change whatsoever (you can use a character in Plus then pop in your 1.1 and play with that). Of course, it could change with the US version, but that's how the JP one works.

I think really only Japan had version 1.0 and 1.1...they solved the bugs with the JP relaease before it made it to the states. I think all US is version 1.0. There was never another release for it I believe.

They do this because of all the hacking and duping going on in the game now. You tell me if it is not bad! I can not play on US ships for level up. It is not any fun anymore. This is good they are doing this actually. They want the new servers to be free of hacked and duped items I am sure. It should not be a problem and you can look forward to having fun getting items again. At least your character data will transfer and you don't have to get your level back.

The US version is 1.1. I've also heard there were a couple of different "batches" of the US version. The first one allegedly has DSL issues.

Actually, there is a better source than that.

Go to Sega.com (http://sega.com), go to Sega of America, go to the find a game, by title, A-R, scroll down to where PSO is.

Normal PSO used to be there. Now it shows PSO+ (though it does show the US normal PSO release date).

Ok, just got hold of one of'em. Present are a JP v1.1 and a JP PSO+ (duh!)
Not only is there NO loss when going from 1.1 to +, the + saves can also still be used to play with 1.1, without trouble.
JP v1.0 to JP v1.1 meant loss of all items. So did JP v1.0 to JP PSO+. But JP v1.1 to JP PSO+ is NO PROBLEM

I got that info from PatserGouki, who played it with AppieDPC. I hope he drops to tell himself...

I don't thik Gallon's shop is on PSO+, check the guides here.

It will not stop duping, since you can always switch back to your origional disk.

I think this may bring more people to PSO 1&2, since Ep 3 was actually advertised, and I am fairly sure more people bought that than Ep 1 &2. Also, Ep 1&2 is almost impossible to find for the GC.

That's the same reason I would pick up PSO+. I dunno how my game disc got so scratched up, seeing as how it never even leaves my Cube (why play other stuff when you have a subscription to PSO?). I'll probably end up needing a new Cube before too long because I don't think my motor can keep up with the constant loading involved in PSO. Ahh, such an expensive game, and I pay every penny.

I'm sure it will be compatible with your current HL, because that would just be stupid to make it use a different one. Hell, that would even be stupid by ST's standards, which says a lot.

I'd think about one or two things here.

1. The offline mode is dull as dishwater. Unless you're playing with friends, I'd question what you're doing.

2. $30 for three new quests? Is it really worth it?

Zarode
07-11-2004, 06:44 PM
$30 to get rid of the Duping and Double Saving, and maybe the hacking problem. I say it is worth it. Plus, from what I heard, yes, you can do quest with your friends...but I wonder which ones.

But if I lose my items...oh...ST is so dead.

Jack
07-11-2004, 06:52 PM
To get rid of those, EVERYONE would have to upgrade to Plus.

Nai_Calus
07-11-2004, 07:39 PM
And even everyone upgrading to Plus wouldn't do anything - If it's like the JP release, the original and + will be interchangeable and anyone wishing to dupe could just throw in the old version.

Meh, even 2, 3 months ago, I would have cared. Now it's like... Eh.

Link00seven
07-11-2004, 11:08 PM
What Sega should do, is sell PSO EpI&II Plus as a regular retail game, but, force users who own the regular EpI&II to upgrade, like they did w/ JP Ver 1.1.

In terms of people who dont want to upgrade, throw em on a seperate server, or deny access to the game.

Still won't work, unless they reprogram it to not allow backwards compatibility. All you'd need to do is go offline, load up original Ep1&2, do your duping/max statting there, and go back online with Plus.

Eh? From what ive heard you can transfer your characters to PSO+ but once they are there you cant transfer them back. Seeing i dont have a JP Ep 1&2, I cant test this, I just got PSO+ with Ep3 :S

Read the entire thread, please. -_-; Transfer back and forth between + and original has been discussed.

What Sega should do, is sell PSO EpI&II Plus as a regular retail game, but, force users who own the regular EpI&II to upgrade, like they did w/ JP Ver 1.1.

In terms of people who dont want to upgrade, throw em on a seperate server, or deny access to the game.

The PSO originally released in USA and EU was already 1.1. The only ones that were in separated servers were JP v1.0.
Now it would be really stupid to make plus only servers. And it is still possible to dupe with Plus, so it doesn't matter anyways.

Reread the thread. Most likely the same that applies for JP 1.1 will apply to US, will apply to PAL.

Basically, it is doubtful that you will lose items.

Feh. All I care about now is filling the orders finally of the dozen or so people at my shop who have been looking for a copy of the game for under $80... feckin' eBay! XO

Heh, oh, yeah... and keeping my obsessively complete collection, well, complete. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif
