Clans are usually made for numerous competitive, social, and personal reasons. I personally stay away from clans whenever I can, as they tend to shy from the more traditional gamer's definition.

I am however glad that they incorperated the team aspect into "Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst", as it is an easier way to meet people like myself without hunting them down one by one. That is the sole reason I created a legit team. It is quite honestly the most fun I have had playing "Phantasy Star Online" in a long time.

Clans can be usually loosely based, or just something to join out of a certain pride or interest that may appeal to a certain individual. I'm not exactly sure about the PSOW proceedings, but I've seen teams around... Clans in PSO don't really do much to enhance the experience of playing, but on the other hand, I don't think they hurt anything either, with the exception of SSJ. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif Above anything else, clans organize a group of friends and level-headed people so you'll always have a few people to play with.
