"You're not contributing to the thread"

This remark is one of my biggest pissmeoffs on any forum when it is posted by an everyday poster (not a mod/admin).

It pisses me off because by saying "You're not contributing to the thread", you're being a fucking moron by following the same mistake the person you're correcting did.

I realise mods aren't around in all the threads, but when that's the only thing posters "add" to the thread (pointing out others being idiots)...they're generally just trying to show how sophisticated they are or how much higher in the boards they are.

Here's a clue, next time someone posts complete bullshit:

Just ignore them. Don't make things "better" by making your own bullshit holyfuckIcanstatetheobvious to "add" to the thread.

The funny thing is that when I first clicked on this rant I said, "This is directed at me."


He's singled me out a few times and attacked me in a few threads, but I honestly don't think this was directed towards me (even though he used a contraction, something I use alot). Sure I say, "You're not contributing to the thread" alot, but I also may my post pertain to the topic in some way.

Also, I think that members mentioning this to other members is good in primarily two ways:

1. It makes them aware of their error and (usually) keeps them from repeating it.

2. It helps out the mods. As an adiministrator and a former moderator of another forum, I appreciate it when other members tell a member when they are doing something wrong. It lowers my burden and it keeps me from reprimanding them.

Definatly something that's bothered me on occasion.
