Ok, I am getting kind of angry. Angry at InterACT for creating the gameshark. Angry at the major video game companies for LETTING them make the gameshark. Mad at all those other companies that make cheat devices. Using these devices cancels out most of the fun and experiences intended by the creators. This is especially true for PSO. I am REALLY looking forward to Ep. 1&2, as is most everyone else here. Thinking of the great experience of playing being RUINED by stupid cheaters makes me mad... and kinda sad.
Let's face it, it doesn't seem that putting precautions in the game to stop cheating is going to work, as is seen in v2. There will always be another one that can do better than the last.
Now, to my point. I was wondering if there was ANY way to start a petition to Nintendo for them to STOP the GS or any other cheat device from ever even coming out. There are a lot of people that play PSO, and a lot that want to and would really like for the GC GS to never come out. So this might actually work.
So, if anyone cares about this as much as I do, and could think of a way to get a petition to Nintendo, then let's do this.

First Amendment Rights! Yeah, the GS will screw everything up for most everybody. I, for one, will gladly sign this petition. I don't know of any game that is truly enhanced by this game "enhancer". Give me searchng for weeks for a halfway decent special wep over a Lavis Cannon +99 any day.

Cheat devices will never stop, but say the makers of the cheat devices put some precaution in the cheat device that wouldn't allow it to go online. Or in GC's case, not work if a modem is currently installed.

Gameshark is a more responsible cheat device company that code breaker and xploder. They didn't make any codes for pso. So it's not really gameshark you have to worry about, it's the other two companys.

As I recall, GSCCC doesn't make GameShark codes. Long story short, don't worry about it. Repost this when a GameCube X-Ploder is announced.

Yeah, i thought it may have been a dumb idea... But I still think it'd be great if there was no cheating on Ep. 1&2. Let's just hope they do make the necessary precautions, at least.

Quite. Although, with old forms of cheating, there were two main things that bugged me...

1. PK.

2. HUmars running around with 180% Needles.

Since you no longer drop your weapon upon death and the Needle is now Ranger-only, my main cheating peeves are gone right there.

Sonic Team has at least prevented the cheats that *I* hate most, so I'd definitely say there's a chance of what you propose coming true.

I like what Mindshare said in a different post, about it being great going through Ragol, breaking open every box and searching every area to look for a better wep, armor, or whatever. Having hacked weapons kind of takes the fun out a little bit. To some, it might just be an annoyance having to look for good stuff, but to me it's one of the funest things to do. I still go through forest and mines in ult looking for ?SPECIAL WEAPON's just for the glory of it, even though my HUmar can beat Ruins easy. I make a lot of new characters, just because of how much I love starting out and having to work for my levels and items. Hey, this could just be me, but other could share my ideas, too. having no cheat devices whatsoever would definitely highten the experience that is PSO.

Gameshark didnt work with V2, and it wont work with Ep 1 and II...

Exploder however is a different story... dont worry yet though, no Xploder is planned for the Cube.... yet.

Yeah, I know all that... It's just I don't want any cheating to ever even be possible. Like you said, the GS probably won't work with Ep. 1&2, and they may even stop the Xploder and Codebreaker. But what if another one comes out? And even if no cheat device is out by the time Ep. 1&2 is released, there is still a chance one could come out some time later. But at least there will be a small period of no cheating...

Yes, I know that all the stuff I saw is purely spectical, and there are a lot of "what ifs", but you gotta think... "What if?"

According to their website, an xploder is apperantly already out for the GC and xbox... Obviously, they haven't updated their site in a while.

What I don't understand is this: If Sonic Team can block Gameshark from being used online in PSO Ver.2, why can't they block Codebreaker and Xploder?

It's kind of technical, but basically, the gameshark's codes are stored in one part of the memory and sonic team could stop it from bein accessed. However, codebreaker and xploder could move where the codes were stored.

Or something like that.

I wanna dupe code. It will limit all the bitches that sit up in the lobby asking for shit and annoying the hell out of everyone.

And this matters to you how, Greg? As I recall, you won't even be on the GameCube version. After all, the Xbox is the second coming of Christ, isn't it?

All Sonic Team need to do is make the game so it will not boot with any disc. Like V2 didn't boot with Gameshark.

I doubt that's possible to program. I take for granted though that Sonic Team knows how badly cheat devices ruined PSO on the DC, to the point of thousands leaving because of it. This being a fresh start for PSO I just hope they take better precautions and don't get into power battles over patching with sad people who have way too much time on their hands in the first place.

Okay, you say the evil GameShark people didn't release any PSO codes? First off, the game is not released yet, aaa, though I doubt this is the point. Second, it's not very difficult for people to create their own codes. Hence CMGSCCC.

I certainly hope we can keep cheating on the servers to a minimum. I'd really appreciate playing with people online I don't know without risking my character I pour countless hours into. Ah well, let's just see what happens with this...

I'm just gonna stick in the same ship/block/lobby from day one and never leave (usually I pick the most remote area). Hopefully the ship names stay the same, then I can just return to my original hide-out. Also, gonna play with the same friends (depending on how many of them come to GC PSO) since I know that they will be legit players.

Funny.
I did exactly that in v1. And guess what ?
A whole bunch of people from a web board came crashing in. PSOW to name it http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I remember the early days of import V2 when PSO World's Puck 9 was invaded by GSCCC, who by some freak occurance (Pfft, yeah right!) chose the same block as PSOW. And then we had to put up with people like Sniper Nick and co. coming in, stealing our weapons and testing their PK and password break tricks.

There was also another kid armed with a Xploder who was infamous for purposely finding out people from PSOW and stealing their weapons in bogus trades. I forget his name, but he was accused of cloning Castelak.

Heh, those were the days...

what i see is that if Sonic Team could do it to the GS why not the CB and the XP. I think they have thought way into this already

Sorry to hear that but the only people who came crashing my ship/block/lobby were some of Malkavains friends who followed him there, they were annoying to say the least, but left just as they had came. I played on the same ship/block since v1 and moved into one of the go-go ball lobbies in v2.
