Lame title decorations aside, I use narrowband, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

I have broadband now. I'm so sad, because it's Ethernet, which has virtually no chance of working with any current or future PSO. Methinks I might get dialup again before August 8th.

Well if the BBA comes out for the GC you can use your Ethernet for it (whenever they deside to bring it out), i have BB and dial up (dial up for PSO) but i hope i can get rid of it after Episode I & II comes out in the states cause paying for Dial up just for a game sucks ass X_x
Narrowband...
DSL sucks in my area, and Cable modem doesnt work at my house for some reason... ill get DSL soon though when it gets faster around here.

Hang on. You mean the GameCube BBA will support Ethernet? Any confirmation of that you might be able to link me to? If it does, that would be a huge sigh of relief on my side of the screen...

Broadband whoo! Yep.. It looks like I might have to play PSO offline for two weeks if it releases with the 56k modem on Sept. 16.

here is something i found on IGN http://gear.ign.com/articles/306/306366p1.html
it shows pic of the BBA too, from the looks it WILL use Ethernet plus it says this
"It is not yet known what type of connections the broadband connector will support, but we're guessing Nintendo will aim for DSL, T1 and/or cable access."

Ah! Much love to you, Yosho, for I am now able to sleep easier at night. I swear, if I couldn't play GC PSO, I didn't know WHAT I was going to do this fall. A-heh.
Zarana, GameCube PSO will support broadband, so you're just fine.
Addressing the topic, I'm on broadband right now, but I have no clue what I'll be on in a few months or so. Bleh.

Greg, you just *look* for places in which to insert sarcastic comments, don't you? Well, if you were too blinded by your own ego to notice, I specifically pointed out that I'm awful with computers in this very same thread. So, if you hoped to taunt my computer abilities to any avail whatsoever, it just isn't going to work. You can't belittle what isn't there.
... Oh, and on a completely unrelated note, you really remind me of the Comic Book Guy on the Simpsons. I can picture you speaking in his voice. ^.^;;

Actually, I just call them as I see them. Its not my fault that you have no idea what you are talking about. In cases like this it's better for you to just go look it up rather then talk about something you don't understand. The internet contains a vast welth of knowlege, use it.

1. Of course I don't know what I'm talking about, that's why I'm *asking* a *question* here. Telling me I don't know what I'm saying comes off as a) redundant and b) obvious. And speaking of my question, you happened to misread me. I was asking "Does the broadband adapter work with Ethernet?" not "Who's the most irritable prick on PSO World?"
You would have got the second one right.
2. About living in a fantasy world, well, I can't help it if fictional characters exhibit more recognizable personas than today's monotone masses. The fact that I compared you to anything but a mindless drone should be taken as a compliment. Congratulations, you're in the 2% of people who remind me of something more than advertising billboards or blank paper. Wouldn't you rather be a Comic Book Guy than a thoughtless byproduct manufactured by the downfall of society? I know I would.
3. While we're on the subject of learning disabilities, how many times do people have to say "Greg, no one cares" before it finally sinks in?

Actually if you want to be technical:
"I have broadband now. I'm so sad, because it's Ethernet, which has virtually no chance of working with any current or future PSO. Methinks I might get dialup again before August 8th."
Is not a question it's a statement. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif
P.S. you don't know what you are talking about.
You would have got the second one right.
I never replied with a name. How could that be a correct answer to your second question?

This whole statement is laughable. You remind me so much of all the kids from my former college that thought they were being different and unique by making lame commentaries about the state of society. Using played out phrases such as "monotone masses" that their professor muttered out during a lecture on the benifits of communism.

First off, there's such a thing as an implied question. I wouldn't have made this supposed 'statement' if I weren't expecting an answer. You probably should have learned about them in your 'old college,' unless by some miracle you're out of school without a single English class taken. Which, I guess, wouldn't surprise me. In the past your posts haven't exactly fulfilled my definition of "grammatically correct."
I never replied with a name. How could that be a correct answer to your second question?
Okay, perhaps I didn't phrase my reply as best it could be, but you and everyone around you knows exactly what it was meant to imply. You know, basing an argument on a technicality is basically the equivalent of saying "I'm out of material. Here, Zarana, you win."
In order to continue this debate, I believe it will require effort on *both* of our parts. I don't want to carry you. So, as they say, if you can't climb to the top of the mountain, don't attend the hike. I won't let you hitch a ride in my backpack.

You were probably too busy taking classes on advanced math and intimate computer functions to learn anything even *remotely* humanistic, so for that I won't blame you. But to say that my statement is 'laughable' shows lack of regard for my opinions, which is in direct violation of our oh-so-American 1st Amendment right to free speech. Personally, I think that if you're going to make remarks about my so-called belief in the benefits of communism, these remarks should be promptly followed by "Hey kettle, you're black!"
If I'm Red, you're a hue of deep crimson.
P.S.--If I thought technicalities made a valid point, I probably would have said that "When it's from someone I respect" isn't *actually* a number of times. Toodles. =P

You know, Greg, it's getting pretty late. If I'm going to get enough sleep tonight, now's as good a time as any to start. I won't be here to read the reply you're probably making, but if it has anywhere near as many technicalities as the last one, I suppose I won't really be missing much. Good night.
Also, this will be the last time I say anything in this thread. It's got an actual purpose, and although arguing with you has been fun, all we're really doing is taking up space that's meant for something else.

Yay! You used the triteness of spelling and grammar in your response! This basically boils your argument down to 'I have nothing to say so I am going to point out a grammatical error rather the address your points'. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif
Furthermore you can claim that your statement was an implied question if that makes you feel better about yourself. However, the rest of the us will see it for what it is, a statement. This is further bolstered by the fact that the thread is titled "~*The Official "Who has Broadband and who has narrowband poll"*~" and you are clearly answering that very question.
Okay, perhaps I didn't phrase my reply as best it could be, but you and everyone around you knows exactly what it was meant to imply. You know, basing an argument on a technicality is basically the equivalent of saying "I'm out of material. Here, Zarana, you win."
Actually if you knew anything about argument you would know that vagueness essentially kills your argument. When proving a point it is imperative that you be exact as possible, but I am sure you knew that.
In order to continue this debate, I believe it will require effort on *both* of our parts. I don't want to carry you. So, as they say, if you can't climb to the top of the mountain, don't attend the hike. I won't let you hitch a ride in my backpack.
Well then I should hope you address the points at hand rather then make veiled personal attacks. It's not really helping your cause whatsoever
You were probably too busy taking classes on advanced math and intimate computer functions to learn anything even *remotely* humanistic, so for that I won't blame you.
Good job making assumptions on the courses I needed to take to fulfill my Degree requirements. Not to mention courses I have taken for my own personal growth. For someone so intent on making a good argument you sure like to bite yourself in the ass.
But to say that my statement is 'laughable' shows lack of regard for my opinions, which is in direct violation of our oh-so-American 1st Amendment right to free speech.
Not at all, you see the 1st amendment gives you the freedom to speak freely not the right to be listened too. I have no constitutional obligation to listen to or respect a word you say.
Personally, I think that if you're going to make remarks about my so-called belief in the benefits of communism, these remarks should be promptly followed by "Hey kettle, you're black!"
If I'm Red, you're a hue of deep crimson.
I made no statement indicating that you personally believe that communism is beneficial. Rather I made an analogy (you should know what that is) of you to a student in some class taught my a fictitious professor. Your argument is further weakened by the fact that I did not in any way tread on your 1st amendment rights. Thus your attempt to label me a communist is irrelevant.
P.S.--If I thought technicalities made a valid point, I probably would have said that "When it's from someone I respect" isn't *actually* a number of times. Toodles. =P
Very well, once, from someone I actually respect.

I'm on Broadband. (dial-up means pay per minute here)
Ethernet is the name of the protocol commonly used by the network cards of PC and consoles.
Cables used are usually 10baseT(RJ-45).
With that, you can interconnect PC, consoles, hub, routers, ADSL modems, etc ..
The slowest speed of a console BBA is 10Mbit, which is much more than any ADSL or cable modem. So having one let's you connect to the internet by any means available to a PC too.
In practice, if the game program doesn't take into account your specific way to connect to the net, you may have to use a router (or config your PC to act like one).
The router will redirect correctly your game's communication.
Example:
PSO v2 needs a router for my ADSL connection.(PPPoE)
Unreal tournament does not. (it has input fields for my ISP's login and password)
DSL and dial up for PSO,for now.Once the new versions come out i'll scrap the dial-up,because i only use it for PSO.
Did anyone just not read all the mumbo Jumbo offtopic quote crap in the middle of this post?? Jesus......

I currentlly have a narrowband connection and I ordered a DSL one 3 months ago. Once they fix a phone line problem around my house they will come right out and install it. Anyway, I'm waiting for the Gamecube BBA to come out. Like Dreamcast(I bought a BBA for it) I'll be able to use the BBA to share the 56k connection of my computer. This really speeds up the process in case I get a busy signal. So, all in all I'm getting online when the BBA comes. Since I ordered it import with a modded GC, by the time I get online, I'll have my self a level 25 character maybe.
