View Full Version : New age Rappers

Ok, you can say i'm raggin on my own race cuz majority of rappers are black but I don't care. Some of these new age rappers are getting on my nerves. There makin millions off cheap lyrics that a 6 year old can write when you got doctors and teachers making less money. Now why am i ranting about this you ask? Well my dear freind i just heard a song by 50 cent(I don't know the name of it) but somewhere in the song he says something like hes so rich that he can make Halle Berry drop her panties. What he said right there was disrespectful to her and he had no right to say that to her.

I understand that rapping does help some of the rappers rise from poverty but when your rap makes no sense and its all about "bling this" and "how big my thang is" and "what i got" and sex it gets real annoying. Not all of these new rappers are like this but almost all the rappers that are famous are dumb and half rearded.

For those of you that have never heard of old school rap don't be confused by this new crap. Rap did make sense back in the day. Back then rap had a more intelligent feel and not only that but there was actually a point in the song. Now, this new rap is nothing compared to the old type.

People have called me jealous, others called me mean, and some called me an uncle tom but i AM stating the obvious truth. I don't care how popular rap is now but the ying yang twins and lil john are embarassing us african americans. There putting and constantly pushing these negative stereotypes of black people. I have white people and some latinos that come up to me saying how come i don't wear a lot of jewlry or how come i don't speak ebonics. Their pissin me off. I'm tired of these cheap bastards comming up with songs(that don't even rhyme half the time) in which my lil 6 yr old sister can make better and it'll actually make sense.

Most of these new rappers have degraded what rap use to be, not only that but there disrespecting the african american community by putting negative stereotypes of us out in the media not only that but kids in low income areas, who look up to these guys as role models, start to take on the views of these new ignorant rappers. Its not the rappers job to act right for someone but they are corrupting the young minded. I use to live in low income apartments and when i went outside i usually saw a bunch badass kids(black, white, asian and latino) saying they want them a platinum chain and cursing and saying they have a 10 inch long penises and saying there a pimp and that they don't have to go to school and just rap and they'll become rich.

I can't really argue that rapers are disrespecting women due to the fact that the video whoes choose to be in those videos.(For those who don't know, the reason why i called them videowhoes is that most women that be in rap songs are strippers and they sometimes have sex with the rapper. This is not only in the rap genre) The rappers do have a say so in who gets in the video so they can at least let some decent REAL women in there videos and exclude the skanks.
I don't hate this new rap and the artist............ wait,no,i can't consider them artist either cuz they have no artistic bone in their body. This "NEW" rap has gone to far. It is really getting on my nerves. There is no talent, no point, heck, most of the rappers who are famous are a bunch of lucky fools that got a record deal cuz they know someone. I mean i can write me a 15 word poem and warp the words arounds so that "there" and "here rhymes, put in a lousy beat and if i knew p.diddy i would be an instant rapper http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

i agree totally. truth be told, im not into rap anway, but the stuff like 2pac, biggie and the bone thugs i like. alot some of it

but this new rap shit is well, shit in my opinion. theres just no way that the average kid could relate to the majority of the lyrics in these new rap songs. and with no riffs as such, theres no real attraction for me

One of the main reasons I don't like rap is because it establishes stereotypes that are harmful to blacks.

Precise and to the point! Quite correct, and that goes for almost any industry that exploits stereotypes.

Don't get me started on Korean rap http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif.

(Drunken Tiger, for example, but most of it IS clean in comparison)

K Rap is fun.... and much better than alot of the New English Rap for sure... (Diva <3)

But on relation to the new English Rap. It has indeed gone too far. Though rarely...rarely theres a good one that oozes into your mind... so hey not all is lost just yet.

0.o You know Drunken Tiger?....

...

Hail Korea. *hail begins falling outside the window* Dammit!

Anyways... English rap just isn't its glorious rebel stuff anymore. Eminem's getting his own friggin radio station, so rap lovers shouldn't have to jerk around about "how good it used to be." Just give em the pacifier of the radio and they should shut up, for those who are annoyed...

KRap is kinda hard to understand, since half of the songs by those like Drunken Tiger and Jo-PD don't have anything to do with its own lyrics... one moment its talking about how a girlfriend gets annoying, the next he's shopping... what can I say? http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_confused.gif

It also taeks away the fun out of parties. The DJ sees us all and thinks, no wait, he just does, goes and plays cRap. Do we LOOK like thugs or people who like this? No. We're all wearing rave clothing and reflective stuff and the sort, what do you thin kthat means? We want Trance!

Not only does it offend blacks, it offends some of us whites too, because now we are stuck around all of these wannabe black people, when the afro-americans at our school are actually who they are and not stereotypical at all. Really ,rap has an effect on everybody. I'll stick with my d'n'b and NIN.

I still can't believe all these people....

Most of those wwanna be black kids (aka wiggers) don't even know the first thing aobut being black. It definitely doesn't have anything to do with being a thug in the hood.

Yes, I've noticed that DJs here in America are pretty crappy, on the norm.

Throw some variability in there!

In a tourist-trap-like club in Italy, they played EVERYTHING! It was great!

Well, there are NO rap songs that can compare to the following: Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Godsmack, KoRn, and Nirvana, and a few others.

hey genious, thanks for stating your opinion like it was a fact. take your ignorant self and leave the thread if you're not going to add anything to the conversation...

back to the topic...
i agree that most of the new rap is nothing but pure, mindless shit. And i think the black steryotype has been implanted enough to the point where more of these rappers isnt going to degrade it any further.

I agree that most of the old stuff i listened to (2pac, bone thugz, coolio {to an extent}, snoop dogg, etc) were respectable and had a point to it. but even back then, you had cookie cutters and posers within the industry as well. it's just that there hasnt been any talent around for so long that it's become the norm.

and i'd rather listen to some trance/rave, or metal anyways.

i hate it people say, "stop trying to act black", as if Black was an attitude..

AYY-BEE-CEE
Jul 24, 2004, 04:59 PM
Yeah that's a bit daft 'acting black', I mean we're born to be black/white/asian/arab/east asian/other PHYSICALLY but that doesn't mean we are born with some mental thing that comes with our skin colour. That's just BS in my opinion.

People like/don't like the rap music genre and I don't listen to it much but some rap I have heard and thought it was good. There is the stuff about 'bling' and 'hoes' and all and this stereotype of 'black ghetto gangster guy' that comes with it that probably is damaging to the way whites see the other. I understand the music industry contains racism in the US (living in the UK I saw this programme about a 'black' English R'n'B artist who couldn't break it State-side because his fellow musician was white) and it needs to change methinks.

This stereotyping shouldn't go on and racism - as should all forms of prejudice - is not on and there's no need. It still exists (albeit to a lesser extent thanks to civil rights campaigners of the past) and needs to stop.
