I've been wodering....how the hell do you pronounce the name of the class HUmar in PSO?

is it WHOmar, HUEmar, or HUHmar?

:envisions someone on Xbox PSO getting laughed off the server for calling out in voice chat to a HUHmar:

faceless

I've always pronounced it HUEmar, but I imagine it is actually HUHmar... because of the way Hunter is pronounced *shrug*

It's "Hyu-mar" according to the Japanese pronunciation. (Like the "hu" in "human.")

Should I post the other pronunciations too?

i just say H-U mar, i pronounce the letters then say mar, like R-A cast. Im wondering how you pronounce foie? is it fo ie or fwah or like foy

Though I'm pretty confident I pronounce everything correctly, a list of the pronunciations would be nice Alielle.

HUHmar could sound like "hummer." Good thing it's Hyu-Mar. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Foie would be Foy imo.

This is approximately how it would sound in English...

HUnewearl: Hah-nyoo-earl (This one is pronounced weird for some reason; I just say "Hyu-noowearl")
HUcast: Hyu-cast

RAmar: Ray-mar
RAcast: Ray-cast
RAcaseal: Ray-caseal O_o Rangers are straightforward...

FOmarl: Foe-marl
FOnewearl: Foe-nyew-earl (I just say Foe-noowearl)
FOnewm: Foe-nyewm (I just say Foe-noom)

For those interested in the exact syllabic Japanese pronunciations, here they are:

HUmar: Hyuumaa
HUnewearl: Hanyueeru
HUcast: Hyuukyasto
RAmar: Reimaa
RAcast: Reikyasto
RAcaseal: Reikyashiiru
FOmarl: Fuomaaru
FOnewm: Fuonyuumu
FOnewearl: Fuonyueeru

That's pretty good. I'm sure when the X-box comes out w/pso it's going to be direly interesting. "Hey Thief!!!!" n_n

Interesting about the pronounciations.
I pronouse RAcaseal rar-cass-seal. I have a friend that pronounces it ra-cas-cal(yes she is a retard).
But who knows how they are really pronounced, I guess that's where XBox will have it's own advantage...no bad typos, just bad pronounciations.

Um, since the first part of their name is to denote their species, I said it accordingly.

Humar=Who-mar
Hunewearl=Who-knee-whirl (or Honey-whirl)
Hucast=Who-cast

FOmarl=Foe-marl
Fonewm=Foe-new-M
Fonewearl=Foe-new-whirl

Ramar=Ra(long A)-mar
Racast=Ra-cast
Racaseal=Ra-cah-sil

Um, where on earth are you getting the "rar" in RAcaseal. There's no second R in there, and last I checked, 'Ra-ca-seal' just can't be said "RAR-ca-seal"

It's like those people who say Missouri "Missoura". There's no fuckin A in Missouri! Stop putting it there! Damned idiots!!! Argh

Uh? Species? Do you mean job? Species (race, whatever) is denoted by the second part of their names.

Hunewearl=Who-knee-whirl (or Honey-whirl)
That's kinda silly sounding. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

I'll take the Japanese approximations...

Um...first of all, calm down.

You spell it RA but I say 'rar'...it's 'rar' not 'rarrrrrrrrrr'.
Think about it

Your posts have been truely helpful...Although slang will rule voice chat in games on Xbox, likely as it does on PC...

"Kill that sonbitch!"

"Run, ya foo!"

(both quotes by a dumbass named BJLOUISIANA2000 on TFC)

I've always said RAcaesal as Rah-say-zal, which is most likely dead wrong, but, it's another possibility.

I figure the 'hue' pronounciation for hunters is probably accurate. Rangers in my opinion could be either 'ray' or 'rah', I use whichever comes to mind quicker http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

HUnewearl has always had me a little muddled, I wrote it off as Hue-neh-whirl.

Have we any japaneese players here? I'd be interested in their take on it, seeing as the symbolic readings are most likely closest to the correct pronounciation.

It's actually spelled "RAcaseal" not RAcaesal. So, yeah, you're dead wrong.

It's pronounced Rah-ka-seel or whatever. Sort of like Rah-kast or whatever.

i think im the only person who pronounces the letters instead of pronouncing HU, because frankly, HU is not a word in my vocabulary. Ill stick with my H-U mars and my R-A caseals thanky.

Yeah, my bad. You know what I meant.

Hunewearl=Who-knee-whirl (or Honey-whirl)

That's also how most people I know say it. "Honeywhirl", or "Hunnies" for short. I think about 90%+ of the posters here call them that. Perhaps I simply chose a poor choice of phonetics, but ah well.

And WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWw or however many there are, I wasn't mad at you, lol. I just get SOOOO damn many fucking lame ass car salesman types who call it "Missoura" when that's NOT how it's said.

And anyway, I still don't see how you can get "rar" in their names. Must be an english thing, lol. They do like do do that.

Murr... look above your post. All the Japanese (and most accurate) pronunciations are there.

It's kind of hard to argue against Sonic Team. O_o

I always use to pronounce RAcaseal like this.

"Ruh-Case-Ee-Ill"

But after I saw a video of SOnic Team demonstrating Episode I and II, I pronounce it how they do in the video.

"Rah-Kuh-Seel"
