So, I have a question about those. Does the gender of your character really matter for the animations?
I tried to compare the animations of a huney with those of a Ramar with a bunch of weaps I had. Some of the animations are exactly the same (mechs, handguns, daggers), and in the most extreme case, the only difference in animation is the angle from which they're htting.
So, does your character choice really matter, if you're not looking at stats, auto recovery, more mats, traps, techs, tech bonuses, or looks?

compare twinsabers, doublesabers, daggers
compare hunyu, hucl, huct
you'll see the difference. its not just animation, but also slightly different timing and sometimes speed.
or fomarl for example.
her shot type animation is very quick. give a fomarl an inferno bazooka (afaik the only equipable shottype wpn she can equip) and see for yourself.

Like Rena said, animations are VERY important. Some weapons have the same/similar animations for many characters. For example, all characters have virtually the same Partisan animation, and all characters except HUcaseal have the same Dagger animation.
Sometimes there's a slight difference. Males all have the same Saber animation, females have a different one. And other times, they're completely different, like the male and female sword animation.

on the fomarl & fomar animation, if anyone has notice that fomar has faster rifle animation than fomarl?
probably a trade off for the shot? =)

...And an advantage for the FOmar in that Holy Ray/Bringer's Rifle > Inferno Bazooka. XP
Not all females have the same Saber animation - FOmarl's is unique. All males do. Male Saber animation is far superior to female, ask just about anyone who's ever done C-mode. >_>; Canes share the same animation as Sabers, but are slower.
HUnl and FOnl have the same claw, I think FOmarl does as well but I'm not sure... FOnl is supposedly slower. RAml and HUcl share a claw animation, all males except FOmar have the same claw, FOmar's claw animation is unique(And decent for a claw anim, except the 3rd hit is way too slow, but for Normal-Heavy-Run away tactics, the first two hits are very fast_
All classes, AFAIK(FOmarl will differ if anyone does), have the same attack animation. Male and female walk and tech vary.
Mechguns seem to be identical in actual usage. Males and females stand differently while using them. Males and females cast techs differently. FOmar has a unique tech animation which is actually quite good.
Male and females have different sword anims. IMO, female is better, but both are two slow for my taste.
Handguns are the same in usage, males and females have different animations, and RAmarl and FOmarl have unique animations.
All but HUcl have identical dagger, bar techs.
HUcl has unique Double Saber, I think FOmarl does as well? Males and females have different animations, I personally prefer the male one, but most people here will probably stare at me like I'm nuts.
All four Forces have different Rod animations. RAmar and HUmar have FOnewm's animations. I'm not sure, but RAmarl and HUnewearl likely use FOnewearl's. IMO, FOmar's is the best Rod animation, both for casting techs and for whacking things. FOmarl's is also pretty good. FOnewm's is so slow as to be virtually unusable, IMO.
Females and males have different Slicer animations. IMO, they're about the same for usefulness, but I like the way the male one looks better.
Wands share the Double Saber tech animations(And PB animations). FOmar and FOmarl have unique physical attack patterns, FOnewm and FOnewearl seem to be more or less the same. FOmarl has unique tech. Stock female(FOnewearl/RAmarl/HUnewearl) is better than stock male.
Males and females have different Card animations. Both are slow. Male looks better, IMO, but neither are really useful.
Same thing goes for twin swords, but female is better. I still don't like either.
FOmar and FOmarl have unique unarmed/fist animations. Male and female standard are different, of course. IMO it goes in order of FOmar > Stock female > FOmarl > Stock male, if only because FOmar's looks awesome. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif
Edit: Overall, I personally prefer males. Female animations just largely annoy me. *shrug*

Unfortanetly the male animation is far superior to the females (I use female characters) in C-mode. Poor, poor Hunewearl.
On GC I've heard you can't multiple foie before running out of tp in battle anymore. It used to be on the Dreamcast battle version, if you casted foie, the male would get the foie in first before the female could fire off a foie. Now make them fire the foie like an Indi Belra and the humar is unstoppable in BA.
From what I've noted the dagger animation has the same result, but the male and females use it differently.

And... You really shouldn't be using HUnewearls in C-mode, at least not if you want a good time... ^_^; For Hunters you should stick to HUct/HUcl, IMO. HUmar possibly if you have no other options, but HUnewearls are pretty miserable in cmode. Last time I played c-mode with a HUnl, she was the one who failed us, and one of use was a freaking _FOmar_. (Another class you should avoid in c-mode if possible. I speak from experience here, I tried to do it once. >_>; )

Now that you mention it, I might be thinking of the male and female dagger casting animation. I can't really remember, it's been awhile since I've seen it.
Characters in cmode, I believe my best time was on my HUcast. I never really got to do many time attacks (if any), so I never got much below six hours on DC. I mostly played cmode to get the S-Ranks.
If you're like me, you'll have one character who is your most prized. You'll wanna take that character in Cmode at some point. My HUnewearl has kinda become my prized character at the moment.
On GC I'm aiming for some Cmode mayhem.

Thank you everyone, I'll see if I can try some of it. And with some I mean especially the HU / RA weapons, canes aren't all too usefull to fight with anyways.. I should check if I can get some of the daggers / twin- sabers/swords with low requirements or something, and make some new HU chars to test it.

not only did Rena not say that, but it isnt true.
there are variations in the animation, but it matters little.
just like different classes of weapons all have different speeds, distances, rates of fire, etc. and equipping /battle units will change your speed of attack, the characters have slight differences.
but they can all be adapted to and work well if your familiar with how to use them properly.
allmost all of my characters use god/battles. but my lv 133 Hucaseal uses a chainsawd, demo comet, and repeaters (yes i said repeaters) with no god/battle at all, and it works for her.
some people dont use god/battles at all.
equip what you want on who you like. if you enjoy the wep and the animation, you be able to use it effectively.

I got up to c6 with my fomar until everyone decide not to join my cmode game anymore -.-. But anyway I agree with you Ian that Fomar rod animation is the best and wth is up with the fonewm animation that attack just suck o.O. And each class and gender animation are different in some way. Meh I just say pick a char who animation you like the best.
