Annoying or am I too optimistic?

Background info: I am chinese and (of course) when I eat dinner I use chopsticks. Also chinese food are served in plates that are put on the table while each person gets his/her own bowl of rice. People can use their chopsticks and pick the food into their own bowl of rice and eat it there.

You want to know what's annoying? Here, I'll tell you. Whenever I eat dinner with my mother and brother. They always start picking these food and start to bombarding me. So when dinner just started my bowl of rice is piled full with vegetables and meat. So everytime I would first eat the food they got me and then start to eat my rice. But everytime when I finish the food they picked for me, I get attack again -__-". Once again I suck up all the food they gave me and start eating my rice again. After like 1 minute later..."Here comes the second wave commander." ok? lol, so when this happens sometimes at the end of dinner I don't get to finish my rice and my mother gets all mad at me. "carol! Why didn't you finish you dinner! Now they will be wasted!" I tried to explain and they never listened.

ok...lemme say that again...

Mom makes me eat a decent amount a day of rice. BUT the other food (veges and meat) make me over-eat, lol. So that's why I can't finish it. I'm already full and there are still food left. And if I keep on stuffing my self until my tummy hurts....bad things happen^^;

And.. it sucks completely. Advice is still try not to finish them up as soon as they appear in your bowl, but rather finish the rice first. I would suggest sharpening one of your chopsticks menacingly. If that doesn't work, shoot a glare or two at your mother.

Then here's my only recommendation:

-Tell them to fuck off.

A little cold between you and them should keep 'em from tossing food into your plate next time. Food is put at the CENTER of the table so that YOU can pick WHATEVER YOU WANT. Don't be afraid to affirm your position. If they keep on insisting, just pick up your bowl and go in the living room or something. If they get pissed, tell them you will fetch the food at the center when you feel like it. If your mom doesn't ask you how hungry you are tonight, there is a big fucking problem in the family.

Normally, my mom asks me how my hunger is. In my family, the mother puts the food in the plates before serving - there isn't any central dish unless it requires so (like turkey or lobster) This is why she queries on my hunger: to know how much edible matter she has to put in my plate. Since she knows we never take a second helping, she'll most likely stuff the plate full of food since she's aware we won't take anymore afterwards.

That kinda backfired since War_Child came to spend a few days at my home, while his hunger was at an all-time low. Mom unfortunately forgets to query on the hunger of her GUESTS and thus WC never finished a single plate mom gave him! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

My grandma does it so much even my uncles and aunts tell her to stop.

My parents would never do that though. It's mainly just family members that haven't seen me in years. I understand that they're doing it because "they care." But seriously, I'm 20...I think I can pick my own food out. I'm not going to starve myself or anything.

Oh yeah, and telling them not to do it doesn't register in their mind. It's like they block it out and just ignore you. Unless you flat out get mad or something. For me, I'm NOT going to go off on family members that I don't see more than maybe once every half decade, so I normally will just humor them for awhile. I can't get fat, so I was never worried about that. However, if my parents ever did that though, I would, in fact, tell them right then and there to stop it immediately. But they know that, thus the reason they've never done it.

I'm caucasian, but I prefer chopsticks over the regular fork and knife. Chopsticks are so great, they're designed so that you only need one hand to hold them.

Some things are harder with chopsticks though. Like crappy rice that doesn't stick.

I don't like fastfood that much either (but sometimes it's ok), or American Pizza for that matter. (anyone ever tried Italian pizza? it's quite good, it's less like pure fat)

And rice and vegs don't make you fat. =)
