So I just beat Tales of Symphonia...

I heard that each scene in the opening intro has its own event/scene in the actual game when your playing. I didn't get any....so like do you have to play through a second time on mania mode or whatever? or are those opening scenes just for the opening...honestly...I was looking forward to see Raine knock the shit outta of a guy with her staff; or see Regal kick the crap outta some guys head, or juck out Hot Sheen pop out with some ninja crap. And see Kratos kneeling on his sword against a tree. etc, etc. A friend of mine already played the game and said those scenes are in the game during play...is he just pulling my leg or...blah.

Nearly every event in the intro is in the game(spoilers ahead for those who care):P:

When the group fights the Skeleton guy with the four swords.
Travelling on the ship to Palmacosta.
Presea watching Ozette burn down.
Regal in prison.
Colette getting her angel wings.
The group looking over the summit at Hima.
The group travelling down from Mt. Fooji.(it looks like the second time, because Zelos is with them)

Whoever told you that is bluffing. Now I haven't played through the game in mania. But I am about 1/3 of the way through my second time around. This game is simply great. There's really no other way to put it. But if you're just getting the game for the anime, you'll be disappointed. There's maybe a total of 5-7 full-motion anime cutscenes throughout the entire game. Although they are all quality ones, they don't happen a lot, and most are concentrated toward the end. And the opening movie does reference events in the game, but they will not be shown in some anime cutscene.

[EDIT] Well I was going to list references but someone already did. You will not get them in cutscenes. You get those shots from the beginning in the game. What's the point of seeing a cutscene at the beginning and then seeing the same thing at the end? It's nice after playing through the game to go back and watch the opening anime and knowing all the references.
