o.o (http://www.angelfire.com/psy/xylion8701/07.JPG)

Today it rained hard in NY.

Let's see..
My dad's house got 6 inches of water in the basement. This ruined most of the VCDs, LDs, CDs that were sitting on the bottom shelf downstairs.
The 32" tv cardboard box floated to the other side of the basement too. Oh, and the carpet was completly messed up.
Oh well...

Just as father came to pick me up, we got out of the car, and our neighbor showed us his house.. =o

Our neighbor accross the street flooded three feet in his basement. All his daughters' toys and stuff were ruined, and his dell computer (which should be replaced anyway because dell sucks http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) laundry machine, etc. He also kept his family archive files in cabinets (about ten years) which were also ruined.

Meanwhile, I spent most of this afternoon at a friends' house, playing tales of symphonia, and nothing happened to their basement =o

wow, i sure hope it stopped raining in ny. did you loose anything valuable or important to you? how much water did you get much water in your basement? anywho, kinda glad you didnt get to much water in your basement. bout five or so years ago, a lot of the rivers in philly flooded including to the one by my house. thankfully, we didnt get touched, but my aunt, two blocks away in back of us, and my friend, a block away, got flooded bad. both of there basements were ruined and had to replace there walls and insulation. i truely hope that all you have to replace are a few things in your basement.

Well, it was raining until a little while ago here, so I can only assume it was still raining in the city.

Man, that sucks! Nothing you can really do to stop the rain tho.

If you lived where I do, than you'll pray for rain, or grass, or trees. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Flood rains suck big time. I was in Houston during Tropical Storm Allison. It was just a Tropical Storm, but it shut down the entire hospital district (even messed up the generators), and did a lot of stuff like this:

US Highway 59 (Normally) [EDIT]Ok not really. Normally, it'd be full of cars and none of them would be moving >_<

It had been raining hard the night before. Someone of the steets had been getting a little watery. However, we were in a bus at the time, so we were all good. Our class had gone to sleep that night, and my room was woken up the next morning at 6AM by our sponsor. I didn't answer the door(Stayed in bed), but I did hear him say, "The plumbing is down. You all have one flush, so make it good." Hehehe. Then I looked outside and saw something like that (Although not the same). There was this underpass right outside our window, and it was also completely filled with water. Although it was not nearly as long as that "lake" on highway 59.

We dont get much rain up here around chicago. This summer is an exception. We didnt have enough rain for flooding but it did get in our basement and ruined some of the carpet. My neighbors had 5 ft of rain in their basement once. Thats because they are the lowest house in the neighborhood. that was back in like 96. about 2 years ago they had their basment flooded. it ruined big screen tv that took up the whole basement wall.
