Anubis_
Aug 20, 2004, 06:35 AM
does it describe me..
well...

the canine headed egyptian god of death,,

a pacifist christian boy...

ha that adds up...

I do not consider my self in anyway a god of death, but i do have power over it. I know death is certain to all, but im not afraid of it found that out monday.. As a spiritual person, in order to become the man I want to be, I have to die, So in a way, without looking for it, I am ready for it..

Im not Egyptian, but i do like cats, I dont believe anubis exists, but i did watch the mummy returns..

So do i have ties with the name,,, The scale says no, but its grown on me so far, so i'll guess i'll keep it..

Scrub
Aug 20, 2004, 10:30 AM
Well, my old name, Scrub, was given to me for two reasons. Back when Majora's Mask first came out, me, my cousin, and my friend Drew all argued over which of Link's forms was best. I said Deku Scrub, Drew said Goron, Anthony said Zora. We started calling each other the names the rest of the visit, and mine stuck cuz I'm short.

Grey Phantasm is pretty odd. I was trying to think of an Xbox Live account that would sound as good as my old one, Joetorian. I used Joetorian for quite a few reasons - on Warcraft 3 I was known as Praetorian-, and was getting sick of being called Prae, so I thought if I renamed is Joetorian, everyone would call me Joe. So Joetorian is a cross between a Praetorian(Go play Alien vs Predator: Extinction) and my name. Now, on Warcraft III, I played a lot of Defense of the Ancients, a custom map. I like a lot of their characters names, so I started to think of variations of them as my username. I finally thought of the Phantom Lancer. But, I didn't like Lances, so I dropped that. I couldn't be just Phantom, though, so I needed another adjective...I thought of my favorite color, Orange. Orange Phantom didn't exactly strike fear into my heart, so I decided to pick another color. I chose Grey. Grey Phantom was ALMOST there, but I decided to go with Phantasm for the pure fact that it's harder to pronounce.

Now, I get called 'Gary Phantom', 'Gay Phantasma', and other disgusting misspronounces of GreyPhantasm. Come on people, is it really THAT fucking hard to say?

HUnewearl_Meira
Aug 20, 2004, 10:50 AM
When I joined PSO World, I was playing my HUnewearl on the Dreamcast rather exclusively. Thinking about it, she may've been the only character I had, at the time. That was back in the DCv1 days. I wanted people to be able to recognize me from PSO World while online, so I came up with "HUnewearl_Meira". I've considered changing it to "VanGarrett" but I'm not big on name changes, so "HUnewearl_Meira" will remain.

As for the specific name, "Meira", well, it was the name of a character in a book that I had written a bit of when time came for me to make a PSO character. In all honesty, I got the name "Meira" by re-arranging the letters in the name, "Marie". As for the personal significance of the name, "Marie" and why I chose to re-arrange the letters to create a new name... Well, that's personal information that I don't intend to share.

http://www.starwars.com/databank/starship/outrider/index.html

When I was making my screenname back in middle school, I was really into Shadows of the Empire, the Star Wars game/book/etc. So I used Outrider in it. That's slowly evolved into my username for pretty much everything, as long as the names for a bunch of my characters in different games/stories/etc.

BTW, VanGarrett, I've always wondered how one would pronounce Meira. Would it be along the lines of "May-Ruh" or "My-ruh"?

Sharkyland
Aug 20, 2004, 11:59 AM
Sharkyland has evolved from 'sharky' which is a very common nickname, and when I was young I had a huge love on sharks. I associated my life with sharks, I've made game designs of this shark in a fishbowl fighting enemies via megaman style. A few people think that I live in a shark world.

As time progressed, I began to make comics. I made a comic called Sharkyland which is an island that was created in the pacific in a form of shark only to be surrounded by vegitarian sharks and that surrounding them a coral reef. The comic began to sprang out other ideas such as Ecoville. Soon after my love of Sharks has ended, I was fascinated by angels. Now I have Sharkyland as my guardian angel and also the main character of my main comic book.

My "navi" was not the fairy thingy from Zelda, nor is it the Serial Experiment Lain navi. That being said.

navi is a character of a silly comic I made with friends where the main character is a PI and navi is his sidekick (hence some people might also know my "Ultimate Sidekick" title). Thing is, this navi is a cyborg, and is supposed to be a navigating bot. However, she can't tell left to right, and is actually a direction-challenged bot. ... So that was supposed to have hilarious results.

The (nator) part of the name was added onto my name after too many people harassed me for being a freaking fairy. Plus, most username require you to have at least six letters, since navi is a cyborg to start with, "nator" seems a ggod suffix to add on. And hence my current nick.

Ezellaur means "green fire" in the quenya language. Thus, why I'm a green flame in navi's community comic.

Sagasu
Aug 20, 2004, 12:41 PM
My origional user name "Sarunakai" was merely formed when I first began getting into manga and anime. So I became interested in speaking the language, and perhaps writing as well.. I actually had already created the name when I finally got my hands on a Hirigana and Katagana chart, since the name matched none of the kanji I knew, I learned to write it out.. Ever since then, it stuck to me, only untill recently, somewhat like Navinator's excuse, was my name changed.

I was pretty sure that Sarunakai had no meaning, untill one day when a friend asked me what it means, and somewhat unsure myself, we sought out to amke sure it had no meaning. Well.. it did, sort of, and I found that Sarunakai had nothing to do with me, and for humiliations sake, I will not be posting what the word means, and if anybody else does, I will toss them into a pit full of ravaging toddlers with sporks http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

So then Sagasu came along, the word means "To Seek" or "Search"; This in itself relates to me, in many ways that I do not wish to mention.

alright, all done sentimental stuff http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

Quo

Quo:

The Ablative of the Latin Relative and Interogative Pronouns.

It could mean many things.

The relative pronoun is translated as "Who." The interogative is translated as "Who?"

Now, the ablative case:

Without a preposition, as my name appears, it could mean:

Relative:

Ablative of means: with whom. As in: Quo pwned the n00b, with whom he then mopped the floor (using the n00b as a mop).

Ablative of time: in the time of whom. As in: Ketchup was a terrible dictator, in the time of whom many innocent FKLers suffered great persecution and an equal wage of 250@ per week. ( http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif )

Ablative of comparison: than whom. The jackass n00b, better than whom was the entire community, got his stupid repeat thread locked. (it's kind of odd in English)

Interogative:

Ablative of means: with whom? As in: With whom did you mop the floor? (again using the person as a mop)

Ablative of time: In whose time? As in: In whose time will the n00b be pwned?

Ablative of comparison: than whom? As in: You are better than whom?

With prepositions it becomes twice as complex. ph34r teh versitility of the Ablative relative and interogative pronoun! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Actually, the "eir" part is pronounced like "ear", so it comes out more like Mear-a. Alternatively, you can try to say it with a more Spanish-ish accent, which mutates it closer to Mee-ra; though, phonetically in Spanish, I suppose it would be "Meh-i-ra"...

Anyway... Elaborating too much... Official pronunciation... "Mear-a"

Hmm. Well, I sorta don't like this handle anymore, it seems a bit juvenile, but I've had it so long I'm a bit attached to it. Love/hate relationship. I made it when I was about 11, I think. I took the digits of my birthday, messed with them a bit and added them onto the generic term "dude". It happened to be one of my favorite words at the time, to this day I still sometimes slump into spontaneous "dude"-ing. Anyways, I took 3.3.88 and turned it into 3^2 8^2. Hence, dude3282. In the last couple years, I've used Ophidiophile as my handle, since that's a bit more mature sounding. But, I might have to find a new one since that one could be interpreted to have a sexual connotation. Grr. It's a crazy world we live in.
