View Full Version : Just a note about NCS for those considering importing PSO...
I just got my GameCube back from NCS, who did a territorial modification on it. It works fine and all that. I also placed a pre-order for PSO E1/2 at their site and all.
Now, the real point of this post, I guess is my plugging NCS on this board, because I think they deserve it. They already earned my complete trust awhile back during my Saturn importing days (there's a little story to that, having to do with Phantasy Star Collection for Saturn), and today they just proved again why I place my complete trust in their service.
Like a dumbass, when I shipped off my GameCube to NCS, I left my copy of Pikmin in the console. When I got the console back, Pikmin also returned intact. Some might not think this is a big deal, but someone could have helped themselves to a free copy of a game.
So if anyone here is considering importing, I highly, highly recommend you go with NCS for both purchasing PSO, and getting your system modded. Sure, you can get the console modded for less elsewhere, but it's hard to find reliable, fast, and HONEST businesses these days. I'd say the extra $5 you put into NCS will be money worth spent.
Edit: An addendum... I shipped my GameCube out through Priority Mail on Thursday last week, it arrived this afternoon. Took a mere week. Just thought I should make mention of that.

I have been a customer of NCSX for YEARS.
And, because of this, I do not mind you plugging them.
NCSX fucking rocks the house and I back them up 110%.
Anyone who needs to get your Gamecube modded or purchase any type of import service or whatever, by all means consider using NCSX.
They've never let me down PLUS the people who run the place are really nice. And you can get personal with orders and stuff too.
Like, for example, when there were no PSO v1 JP games floating about anymore. I purchased their review copy off of them which they never went online with. I was surprised they allowed me to do that, but they hooked me up.
Sweet company to purchase from and work with regarding import deals and modding.

Yep, they are a very nice service indeed. I ordered my copy of the European Shenmue II off of them, and it came quickly and the case and everything were not damaged a single bit. If you plan on getting a modded Cube or PSO Ep.I&II anywhere, get it from them (as I sure as hell am.)

I'm planning on importing as well, but I have a question about the shipping. I've heard of people having problems with US Customs and others that did not. So which shipping method would be best?

I have no idea why a person would have problems with US Customs by ordering from an import shop. It's the import shop's responsibility to make sure you get your package, really. I've never had a problem with NCSX or any place I've imported from, actually. But, all the more reason to go with NCSX! =)

Yup: NCSX really rocks. I live in Europe and they are competent and fast also with us European customers.
Recently I ordered Metal Slug 4 for NeoGeo and I received it last week via UPS.
Usually when I receive boxes containing videogames from the USA I have to pay some extra import taxes.
But NCSX had the smart idea to declare just *50* USD of value (instead of 295 USD)... so I paied just 15 Euros of taxes. Maybe you can say it's not really honest but... ^_^

I've already preordered the full bundle from there game/modem and keyboard but looking there today i noticed they no longer have the game/modem bundle in the preorder section just the game or the keyboard on its on. Maybe they ran out of the game/modem package.

If you order imports directly from the country such as hong-kong or japan, then yes they have to go through customs. ncsx though, is located in the US (I believe?) so customs is not a problem.

I've never had any problems using NCSX, I live in the UK and what i order always gets ot me within 4-5 days of item being shipped which is nice and fast, always very well packaged, my sakura wars complete box was surrounded in over 20 large secure packagaing bags, game i have ordered have always arrived in excellent condition.
Prices too are reasonable, i see alot fo other import game stores, especially uk ones seelling import goods for extortionate prices. At NCSX you can also find non game related iomport goods which is also a plus.
Customer service people seem friendly too and reply to email and order promptly, i try to avoid import shopping else where unless they dont stock the item i am after.
I like tronix better http://www.tronixweb.com

Yeah, I bought my GC recently, and I must say I was impressed by their fast shipping. I used to buy from BuyRite for about, but after buying from NCS, I'll never go back to those idiots.

Where did you order? From NCSX?
If you ordered from NCSX, the only price you pay is the final price shown just before you put in your credit card information.

Yes, but cos ncsx is a US company and i'm from the UK it has to go thru UK customs which is liable to be taxed, i was just wondering if nausicaa had been taxed in the past when ordering from ncsx.

I have not been taxed from packages from NCSX yet, but it does'nt mean you can't be, all packages land in the uk and go then thru customs sometimes they get hold of them and decide to add tax thougbn most packages i order outside of us son't.
The delivery company that seems to end up with custom fees to pay i have found when shipping to UK are when you ship with FedEX, UPS or DHL.
As NCSX ships with USPS and EMS (i use ems as i want goods asap) i have yet to have any packages ever with custom charges from these methods of shipping with items bought at NCSX, so hopefully you won't.
If you do sometimes there is a COD amount to pay or you get a custom letter with amount, it is rare, about 1 in 5 packages i order probably gets customs interested, but i do order alot of packages regularly, and rather large at that.

I got JP Ver.2 from them and it was very good service.
Question: Can I BUY a modded GC from them, like not have to buy one from like Wal Mart and send it to them. Can I just buy a modded GC? Cause if I can get money thats what i would do.

Yes... NCSX is all that everyone is saying. That's the main reason I got a modded GC from them. I know what I am going to get and I trust them... I've been ordering since I was little and my sister found out about them before me and ordered from them too. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Yes you can, that's how I'm doing it http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif
I'd hate having to send my US GC though V__v Even though it's more expensive buying a modded one, I want another GC and this time modded. Anyway, I'm not the only one that plays video games in my house so I'll have that GC all to myself to play PSO http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

You pay customs when you order from anyone outside the United Kingdom on packages weighing a certain amount.
I ordered a Official Nintendo S-Video cable from Tronixweb and didn't pay import tax, because it only cost £7.
Something like a modem and keyboard would require import tax, which would be determined from the price of what you've ordered.
You can e-mail NCSX and ask them to mark down the price of what's in the package to help you avoid import duty, but if it gets lost somewhere between you're only insured the price they put on the parcel (which was noted down before being sent). If you're prepared to pay full import duty and it was to get lost you'd get all your money back. So there are risks.
As for NCSX, I've e-mailed them and they're very quick and polite in replying. Ordered Version 2 from them and it took just under a week.
I give them two thumbs up!

Hey, I pre-ordered my PSO E1&2 import from NCSX about 3 weeks back. I was gonna send my Gamecube into Colorconsoles.com,because they were slightly cheaper. But I think I've changed my mind about that. I'm deffinitly sending it into NCSX. O yah. What kinda box should I put my GC in?
Any box that the GameCube will fit in and is acceptable to ship in is fine really. If you ship by USPS Priority Mail, the box is provided for free. Just be sure to use those packing peanuts or newspaper so your 'cube doesn't get damaged mid-shipment. Ask for them when you're at the post office.
Also be sure to insure the package.
