View Full Version : A suggestion to those who are importing:

Find out from the people you ordered/plan to order the game from what their return policy is. For this example, let's just assume everyone is using NCSX, who will let you return items as long as they are still sealed. When you get your PSO stuff in August, check hey.to/pso, Mamak, PSO World, etc. and see if there is a tutorial for getting online. Also verify that there is an English language option. If by some strange chance people in the U.S. cannot connect to the servers, or there is not an English language setting, you can easily return your items. However, if you CAN connect and there IS an English language option, you'll already have the game and you can just rip it open and get everything set up. This is what I am doing, and I strongly suggest you all do the same. After all, it would suck major ass if you opened the game to try and figure this stuff out for yourself and realized you couldn't get online and play in English.

Agreed, but I can't think why they'd change the language option. After all, PSO v1 and v2 both came with English as an option.
Still, I take your point http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

No offense, but this is really a retarded and useless post. Those of us importing know what we're doing.

I also know what I'm doing. There has been no OFFICIAL word from Sonic Team that there is an English language option, and they could also figure out how to block importers from connecting on the final version(though it is highly unlikely).
I made this topic so that people who were unsure about importing because of these things could have a solution. Import the game and keep it sealed until everything they need to know has been VERIFIED. I know many people who have pre-ordered the Japanese version but don't understand a word of Japanese. I would hate to see them pay for a game, tear it open, pop it in, and realize there is no English language option and be stuck with a copy of the game they can't understand.
Although I'm sure there will be an English language option and that we will be able to connect from the U.S., this is simply a safety precaution that I thought people might like to know. If you don't agree with it, shut up and don't reply.

Whoa, don't be so harsh on the guy, he makes a very good point. I'd still play even if there was no english option.

Sonic team make worldwide games, it's the way they have always made games. PSO will have an english language option it's an almost certainty. I have sonic adventure battle on gamecube the japanese version and it has an english language option just like every other sonic team game.
It's doubtfull that sonic team will block importers, it would have been very simple for them to do so on v2 yet they didn't. At the end of the day it's still money in there pockets no matter where it came from.
All of this blocking importers stuff came from FFXI which didn't even block importers, people just had a few problems logging on with a certain version of the browser software.
HL shouldn't be a problem either people have bought them for v1, v2 and pc pso with no problems i don't see that changing for gc pso.

We (and I include myself in this) seem to be throwing assumptions around like you wouldn't believe.
It COULD be that the JP version will NOT include English text. Unlikely, yes, but not impossible.
Also, there's no point in importers getting online if they can't understand a word of what is written.
I take the post as I think it was meant - a warning that it may not be that easy for us to get on next time, and to wait and CHECK. If I've misunderstood this, please correct me http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

This made me think. Sonic Team releases the Japanese version with a English option, importers can play that version with no problems. Why would Sonic Team just not release that same exact version in the US and elsewhere? They can just regionalize the disc. There is probably a reason why, but I was just wondering.

Taken from Mamak:
1. The trial will offer both online and offline play. However, 4 player split screen will only be available offline. The trial version will include stages from DCv2 and a little of episode 2. Of course, episode 2 will be available to play online and as to the question of BBA availablilty in the final version... it is still unknown.
2. Graphical upgrades are been done to some of the original version 1 weapons like the "Cross Scar" and "Battle Verge" etc. Color tweaks are also being implemented to items with more than one photonic attributes.
3. The enemies from version 1 & version 2 may receive a complete statistical makeover in regards to their hitpoint and damage inflicted on the player. They may also receive some graphical upgrades.
4. All areas from Episode 1 (Forest ~ Ruins) will be available online without the need to clear them offline. Episode 2 areas may also have all areas available to the players online, although they have not decided upon this.
5. The GC version will have the same language support as the PC version.
6. New motions & actions have been added for players to perform in the lobby. Symbol chat would also be tweaked.

I don't consider that an official statement from Sonic Team that there will be an English language option. That might just mean that people using the Japanese version can communicate with people who speak the languages available in the PC version. And I believe I already said that I'm sure there will be an English language option, but that I was WARNING importers to be careful and not ass/u/me things.

It would've been easier for me to say I know it will because the Japanese versions of Sonic Adventure 2: Battle and Sonic Advance offered an English language option. They weren't online and it simply allows the English/French/Spanish people living in Japan the choice.
The Korean PC version also offered an English language option, from what I understand.
Also Ah King has confirmed the trial can connect from outside Japan and that it's easy to get online. He also says he will prepare a guide for everyone to get online.
I don't think they will take out the language option, it mite not matter in the US/JP version, but in the EU version, they will need English, Spanish, French and German, it's unlikely that ST will want to make 4 versions of the same game, just for the EU market, so, I think they will include the language option.
Same language options from PC version? thats cool, I can finally have a look at what Photon Launcher is called in Chinese, and other weapons as well

well when i got my jpn ver 2 ,i did not even have2 change the lang seting was on English all ready.Allso it had french ,german and spanish option& jpn ^ ^
my main point is if sega want 2 block imports
they no where u live from your credit card
,but all they want is the £_$ in there pockets.
Isnt it easy to stop most of the importers? for example FFXI, we have to provide a valid japanese address... -______-;

you just had to do like an aioeuouea for your japanese name when you had to sign up for your dricas account. HEY! i wonder if our old dricas accounts can be used in the new game or if we have to get new ones

I too see your point, but it doesn't really count for me. See i really just wanna play the game thats about it. Online or offline I'll have fun with it. Plus i wont be going online in August anyways I'm waiting for BBA and I'm also waiting to see if i must pay again to play online. If thats the case i wont be going online. It's not like i don't have the cash or anything I just don't feel like paying money for no updates and for cheaters to still be rampant in PSO.
Anywho thanks for the advice but i don't think I'll taking it I truelly only care about playing offline and with my buds.
