If I'm to import then I'm gonna have to settle for the Boot CD, I, nor my dad, think its a good idea to send the GC to someone to mess with (also its a bit out of my price range)

I feel that I have to say this.
Don't be scared!!!11 Just send your GameCube into NCSX //0//!!!@@@22
Did you read the other gc modding topic? I'm sorry but boot discs are annoying and if you plan on playing PSO for a long time you will be happy that you did. The boot disc is worth it I guess if you are scared and like juggling discs everytime you want to play. T_T^

Also you have to make sure the boot disc is able to format your mem card into a JP mem card http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif
Edit: You said modding was out of your price ranget but the PAR is 39.99 and getting it modded is 38 :/

Format into a JP memory card? what?
And I'm ordering both PSO and the boot from buyrite.com and the boot is 25, I also fear for my GC's safety.

are you sure the boot cd can format a memory card? if not you better just save the 25 bucks and send it in... Also, dont worry about sending it because you can get insurance from the postal service for like 5 buucks that covers over 200 dollars...

Ok with the boot disk theres a chance that the US gc won't even be able to format the memory card to jp format and even if it could you wouldn't be able to access that card from the gcs built in memory card manager so no copying guild cards from 1 memory card to another. If you even tried to access the jp formatted card in the memory card manager it would ask you to format the card to US format.
Besides the bootdisk is currently vapourware it can't be bought, no one has them even if buyrite is advertising they do. The boot disk was announced in the UK first and it still isn't out here, it keeps getting delayed.

No mod chips are needed, Its 2 wires and a switch soldered to an empty space where a resistor should be. Before answering try knowing what you're talking about idiot.

I would seriously reconsider ordering ANYTHING from Buyrite. I've dealt with them in the past and they are less than a pleasure to deal with. They STILL haven't fixed their errors on my order and I've complained to the Better Business Bureau about them. I'm not alone in this, either. I suggest you check their record out yourself with the Better Business Bureau.

Well my only option is a boot disc. PAL GC can't be modded and well i wouldnt mod my gc when is still in warranty because I lose it.
And like luvslave said the AR keeps getting delayed!!! I need it before 8th august. I'm importing a memory card 251 jp only for pso or some other jp games I'll import.
copy guild cards?? I never done that, what is its use?? If i Buy pal PSO i copudlnt use them because they r jp so whats the point?

i meant if you have more than 4 chars coping guild file to another memory card so that those characters can have the same card list

Errrr, I wouldn't get your hopes up on that boot disc antime soon. If Buyrite mean the Freeloader that is being released by Datel, that is. It's due June 2002 according to BuyRite(/wrong), and if you look over at GoblinDirect.com (UK based, like Datel), you'll see they offer the FreeLoader on pre-order and said it should have shipped to them on the 20th of this month. It obviously didn't and so they updated saying it's been delayed (again) to the 20th July. They commented on how their supplier was very wary of giving a date, so they've put an estimate.
Also remember GoblinDirect was one of the first to hear about this disc.
This doesn't matter if the BuyRite disc is another boot disc, but they have the same month as Goblin did (except Goblin had a specific day).

Two solutions for you.
1)If it's that much of a problem then don't import an wait the month for domestic release.
2)Buy a second pre-modded GC (JP or U.S., wtfever)....problem solved.
If 1 is out of the question then choose 2 an if 2 is too expensive then bite the f'n bullet an send out your GC an have it modded.

If the guild card system is anything like the Dreamcast's...then just keep your main character in the first memory card port. Well, knowing that 1 memory card holds multiple game files I don't see the need in copying guild card files.

I have a feeling this BootCD is gonna wind up being like Bleemcast. If anyone remembers what happened with that, it was delayed for over a year from it's initial release date.

i dont want to send my cube out either. Im probly just gonna wait for us release and not get the quests. yay.
Datel are releasing 2 versions of it. 1 is a plain Bootdisc that enables import games to be played on any GameCube. The other allows import games, but is also a cheat device.
I don't think it will be like Bleemcast! for 1 that thing was controversial from the start with Sony taking them to court and all from the start...

You have to remember that Nintendo (of Europe) were very, very wary of people playing import games or even cartridge-based converters for the N64 (I own 4 for the N64, mainly because games kept having code put in to stop them working with the latest one).
Now in Europe Nintendo have gone into big-name game import gaming stores like CEX and Gamestation and told them to stop selling imported Nintendo goods, or else.
I'm almost sure that's why this Datel Freeloader disc is delayed yet again, because NOE doesn't want people importing. Also the Action Replay has once again been put back for an 'expected' release on the 20th July.
My advice to those from Europe wanting to import is get a modded Cube. I have little faith this disc will be out by August 8th.

Well, even if you lose your warranty with Nintendo, if you Mod your GC at NSX.com they give you a new warranty incase anything should happen due to Modding they take full responsibility. I had my DC chipped by them few years back and I've never had a problem.
Also whats this about formatting the memory card to Jap? are US and Japanese memory cards different?

Mod your GCN and live happy!
The Boot disk is always an annoying solution (open the GCN, place the Boot disk, load data, open the GCN again, place the game disk >_< ).
In addition, no one knows for sure when this Boot disk will be released.
If you are still unsure about you GCN safety ^_^ maybe read Parn's post about this matter:

Is there a place I can order the mod and do it myself? I've modded plenty of PSXs and I don't want anyone touching the insides of my game systems except me.

Just wait for the US version like I am going to. I dont even have a GC yet, by the time I would get enough for that and have it modded I will have 0 dollars, by the time I save enough to import the US version will be out. Blag, its real ugly. But my birthday is in August so I dont know...I might import.
Import- 45%
US release- 55%
I know this may change EVERYONES plans. But it had to be done. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I dealt with Buyrite once. First they send me the wrong thing, then I email them with no reply. I call em up and manage to get my order straight and I'm happy. Of course, I forgot how I emailed them so I was a little surprised when I got an email back from them a year later.
Kill Buyrite.

For the sake of saving you from alot of frustration...DO NOT order from Buy-rite. I alone have heard too many horror stories. i recommend you just wait till it hits in the U.S. It seems like too big of a problem if you dont want to just send it in.

Well i won't pay an import modded gc only for 1 game.
Near 500$ for 1 game, no way!

There is a simple way to get round the Memory Card problems concerning the Boot Disk, but simply, you just need a freind who has a modded cube. They can format the card for you and if needed, transfer guild card files for you etc. The only thing I don't like about the boot disk though is that there is the strong possibility of you losing your game saves if you are not careful, say you booted up one day in your console's domestic mode and accidentaly reformatted your Memory Card. I wouldn't want to take that risk, I've got me a modded Spice Cube from NCSX *grins* http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif. For instance, if anyone in the UK needs their memory cards formatted I would be happy to do so and have already done it for a few people http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif.

If you order from Buy-Rite, you will probably get ripped off. Please look at the following link before you place any order with them:
http://www.bbbenc.org/common.html?location=/home/common/www/mis67/report.php&bureau=raleigh&compid=19394&national=Y
I've been to their store in-person, and interestingly, they've got a police officer on duty there. I wonder why... (probably to prevent people from beating the store owner up, perhaps?)

oddly enough, my friend bought some stuff from BuyRite and never had a problem, *shrugs* I dunno.
Anyway, I'm glad I'm not importing, going through all this just to play one game, and besides as I said before, I won't have much time to play it anyway, so I'll wait for Domestic Release :P.

To answer your question...
You can order the mod switch and wiring from NCSX.
