View Full Version : Challenge: Kuda Labs Theme Song Contest

Skuda

Okay guys and gals, I've been trying to think up a good Kuda Labs theme song for awhile. I just can't get a good tune going.

Kuda Labs Theme Song Contest

Come up with a good tune for Kuda Labs. preferably music, but lyrics would be nice too.

in short: Music (midi or whatever) or Lyrics (preferably something PSO related and mixes a bit with the Kuda labs sort of ideas) or both

Criteria:

- I would prefer something techno sounding or violin type music.

- A fast beat for the techno, something adventurous, or for something more gothic and violiny, a little more sad, but more Power to the song.

- Prefered length, is up to you. nothing too short or too long.

- must be as original as possible (no taking others songs)

- have fun?

Winner:

The winner will have their song chosen as the theme song for Kuda Labs, and the Kuda Labs adventures animations. A character of your choice (probably your own) will be used in a Kuda Labs Flash Cartoon.

I will edit this upon finding any problems with this contest.

I would really appreciate people to try to help me out here. I don't believe any fan music has ever been posted here.

Thanks all,

-Scott Kuda

Well, if anyone would be willing to write down the songs, and sort of give me a melody to go with, I'd be willing to sing them. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Can we work together with other people, or is it a solo thing?

So you're asking us to compose something ourselves?
Otherwise, consider 'Toriga - Inner Universe'.

@ Ziz, work in as many as you want

@ Tycho, yes. I would like the songs self composed.

I'm currently working on a work for Kuda's theme now, only problem is, I can only have it in sheet music =/ I tried to record it with my microphone and my laptop, but my laptop doesn't seem to pick up the microphone being there =/

Oddly enough, my song sounds very dark Christmassy... so if Kuda doesn't use it, I can use it for a Christmas theme http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

try using Midi maker. I dowloaded a free version of it a while ago and it wasn't that bad. works well with sheet music, PJ.

So far, I've aimed for dramatic and wound up with creepy. That's a far bit to miss the mark on.

I'm not sure MIDI even *has* many techno options.

...but I'm trying!

I got something started, but I'm still trying to figure out how to do cords, etc.

And right now, it only lasts a few seconds. So it's still a work in progress.

And Wazzy has informed me it's high pitched. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

not a bad start. back it up with electric guitars or something else loud after another bit of high piano keys like you do now and it should turn out to be something nice ^_^

Kind of reminds me of the first Clock Tower's (a survival horror for the SNES) theme. I'd link to it, but google has failed me.

If you round it out a bit more, it could be really good http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

hmmmm well this goes against the rules of the contest, but the Zelda theame goes with anything. there are different kinds of the Zelda theme.

Pick a "speed" you like and you can add anything you want to it.

I tried it once, i had my friend added a guitar theme to it. MAN it sounds great. you should consiter this.

Sorry Joshie, I want something that I'll be able to stick with, and wont get hounded by copyright people and fanboys saying I've done something horribly wrong to their favorite songs.

Hmm. My original piece had a few extra notes accidentally, so it sounded weird =o I think this (http://home.graffiti.net/s_chao:graffiti.net/KCTrial1.mid) is correct.

Ahh, but a small little upgrade aswell. To this tiny piece of work I have added chords! It's so cool now! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Does there have to be any lyrics in it? And does it have to be pso based, or can it just be a nice tune? I think I have a few ideas, I'll perhaps have a go once I've...*ahem*...'obtained' my copy of cubase http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

no lyrics are needed, but I still want some in teh final version (which means if you don't, I'll write the lyrics for the song)

for lyrics, they can be pretty much anything, as long as it would at least fit in the PSO setting.

if you're meaning the song, a nice tune would be fine.

can't wait!

PJ
Sep 22, 2004, 09:44 PM
Out of friends, homework and PSO, I'm happy I found a little time to work on the song today ^_^;;;

I added a new section to it. Yay! (http://home.graffiti.net/s_chao:graffiti.net/KCTrailb1.mid)

Then I put it together. I added the second part to the first part, and then I added the first part again, only reversed. (Although after the first set, I only added 2 chords, I'll need to work on that D=).

What do you think? (http://home.graffiti.net/s_chao:graffiti.net/KCTrialb2.mid)

EDIT: Gah, I made a typo on the first fiel, so I fixed the link to the incorrect spelling >_>

EDIT2: And in case you wanted the Midi Maker file Kuda, you can play around with the tempo if you want. (http://home.graffiti.net/s_chao:graffiti.net/KCab.mia) Although I'll never actually be able to play my song at the 120 tempo, I think it sounds funky XD

Oh, for whatever reason that reminds me of the Twilight Zone theme. And the beat reminds me of the Medal of Honor Overture. Interresting combination. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

...wait a minute. I *am* a total n00b without any experience in musical theory. ^_^()

http://www.geocities.com/cupeius/KudaTheme.mid

...wow. If you listen to this in QuickTime, it totally doesn't sound like the way I composed it. O_o Listen to it in WinAmp or Windows Media Player.

EDIT: It might be a given, but my song is a WIP, like the others.
