this my freinds is killing my feet.

The friction between my bare feet and the hardwood gym floors is doing a number on my feet. I have blisters and rug burns all over my feet from the darned footwork. slide the ffet across that ground, and feel the pain.

my feet are purple and pink now.

boy, sure is rewarding.

Works like a charm (http://www.centuryfitness.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10051&storeId=10051&productId=11805&langId=-1&categoryId=13502&parent_category_rn=13501)

Or just keep wearing your bare feet on the wood floor, you wuss http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

It kills your feet at first, but if you keep at it, your feet WILL become really rough and callused enough to withstand just about anything. When I was conditioning my feet and hands, I just walked everywhere barefoot - hot asphault, hot gravel, piles of wooden sticks, etc... they will all roughen up your feet. That or get a 2x4 piece of wood and wrap it tightly in rope; rub the bottoms of your feet and knucles with it and all the skin will grow back coarser and thicker than before. I know it's a little extreme, but if you're devoted to it, it's definitely worth it. Of course, those who do martial arts for a living will condition their hand, feet, shins, even their foreheads sometimes http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif These people will never be able to hold down an office job of course, because the amount of callus on their hands sort of impedes on their ability to type http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

But good for you - Kendo is a great way to focus your energy (drop that JROTC crap and join more martial arts!)...

What the hell is the difference between Japenese archery, and regular archery?

You damn kids and your martial arts, you're never gonna go Super Sayen no matter how hard you try.

Kento is the sports of whacking wooden swords on other's wacky helmet. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Japanese Archery is Kyudo.
And the thing about Kyudo is it is very ceremonial. From my limited research (not that limited, actually) it is less like a sport, more like an art form almost. Google it up. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Kuda, my friend, it's called Baby powder. I don't go to Kendo practice without it, since my feet love sweating, and practice is after work, when naturally, I've sweated. Baby powder allows me to do men cuts and the movements without squeaking across the floor. I have no clue what baby powder is called in Japanese, but I'm pretty sure you can just look at bottles in the local Daiso, Jusco, or what have you, till you find it.

And yes, Kyudo is very very ceremonial. Each shot takes several steps, and must be done in order. As well, you don't look at your target when firing, which is odd. Reason being is that Archery was considered slightly dishonorable, and killing with an arrow very much so, since the opponent had no chance. By not looking, you can be *surprised* when you walk up to your erstwhile enemy and find an arrow sticking from his stomach. I didn't do it!

@Aredhel- even though that is highly ammusing, I'm a toothpic compared to him. and he's not all that big either.

kendo is more keeping your feet on the floor too.

@Arislan- yeah, I'll checko the Daiso near my school after practise tomorrow. probably be like what.. 200 en?

Heh, reminds me of when I was in Judo. And my Sensei's sensei from Japan came to visit. I was elected to be the guki (throwing dummy >.>) And the first thing this teacher did was remove the pads on the floor. He would say that irl there are no padding to land on.... lets just say he threw me over a dozen times. And no one else volunteered, so I kept volunteering. In total he threw me about 42 times during the whole class, doing moves Ive never seen before. I was bruised, and was bleeding a little bit... but I kept getting up and volunteered some more. My sensei was quite pleased with me. And his sensei said I had "heart" that I should go to Japan with him... but I couldnt imagine doing that every day... ouch.

That's a nice story http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

It reminds me of 'training' with this one old guy in my former dojang. He was about 55 years old and had been doing karate, kali, fencing, hapkido, judo, TaeKwonDo, etc... since he was about 10 years old. So he was well-versed in the art of causing pain. Mind you, he wasn't some athletic God (I mean that with the utmost respect for him) but he sure did know how to take someone down in a way that makes *you* look like an idiot http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Anyways, he pulled me off to the side one day to practise his one-step sparring routines ON me. Not, with me... ON me http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif The way he bends the wrist and ankles, etc... I was a-hurtin' http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif The next day, my arms and hands were covered in bruises - people asked if my parents had been abusing me. They were joking, of course, because I was 17 at the time, but it seriosuly looked like someone had beaten the shit out my arms. It's not as though he only practised his one-steps once, though - he *did* have to eventually test for next rank, so for that rotation (3-month period), I was Mr Gustin's Uke. It's amazing how, after a while, you just get so tough in the areas which you were soft before - after the first few weeks of practising this sort of thing with him, I no longer bruised after-class http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Just goes to show...
