At work today, a dude came into the store. He is about my age, look super nerdy but trying to be cool type outfit.

He was having a conversation with my co-worker.
"So. I didn't feel like going to work today. SO I called in and said I didn't feel like coming."
"The manager was mad. But I just ignored him. A few days later I called back to see when I am working."
"The manager said I didn't have to come anymore. They have found someone else."
"Well. I never cared about work, I don't need work."

Ya.
And apparently his parents give him over 1000 bucks per week.

Fucking bastards.

There's a saying that goes: "The nerd you bully at school will end up being the one auditing your income tax report several years later." http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Indeed, rich little pricks piss me off... Its not the fact that they have the money... not even that they don't work for it.

Its that they don't realize what it is like, busting your hump for little, if any, compensation or recognition.

Wait, what age are we talking here?

I'm 18 and a full-time College student. I live with my Grandmother in Florida and between her and my parents, I am fully supported with shelter, food, internet, TV, insurance, etc... I had to buy my own car and I have to pay for my own gas, but that's about the extent of my vital expenses. I realize that I'm very blessed to have such loving and generous people in my life and am quite grateful for whatever people can give me. Since I moved here in July, I have not managed to secure myself a job - though, admittedly, I'm not doing everything I can to go out and get one. I suppose I *am* employed by Wal-Mart but I have yet to show up to work after a week - they gave me no phone number and for some strange reason, they scheduled me for 40 hours/week CONTRARY to what I told them I could work - I figure if they want me to work for them, they'll call ME and arrange things, but in the meanwhile, I'm not too excited about becoming a part of the Wal-Mart family for $6.90 per hour. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

I'm still looking for the right job, I suppose, but my time is taken up by doing odd-jobs for my Grandmother and taking care of my college work. Is this really so bad? I don't feel good about blowing-off Wal-Mart like I did, but it WAS a really shitty opportunity from the beginiing... gave me an odd feeling how much those people idolize Sam Walton *shudders*

In the meanwhile, college is basically paid for by savings bonds from when I was born (thanks, mom!) and various savings accounts allocated over my entire life and growing-up. I have a very prosperous, hard-working family that supports one another, and I am, basically, an only child in many respects. I live very well, but not in a state of excess - what do you think about this?

I hate that too.

Everything I've been able to buy, the money came from either working or the couple of hundred bucks I get per YEAR for my birthday/xmas. Tablet? Worked minimum wage at school. PS2? Worked/saved b-day pennies. GC? Same. Computer? I don't own one, I can't even begin to afford one. Only reason I've even got a decent one is because mom bought it for herself. Same thing with cable, etc. My mom won't even consider giving me an allowance, and my college schedule doesn't give me TIME to work.

Reminds me once, someone stole a dollar my grandmother gave me for bus fare if I needed it from me(We never found out who), and the stern lecture the class recieved over it was that taking a dollar from me was like taking a hundred from most people. ...Kind of a humiliating thing to hear.

And what pisses me off is that mom is constantly going on vacation, and buying all kinds of shit for herself, and then if I ask for something, she bitches about being 'poor'. She makes 55 fucking thousand a year, and we're 'poor' when it comes time to me wanting something. Heh.

We are talking about 23 plus.
And the point wasn't that he has all the money is want, it was the attitude he has for work. That he is better than work because he doesn't need to work to get money. I am not attacking people that get support from parents. I am still like that.

I am angry at the people who doesn't know the value of money because they have never know the shortage of it or ever have to work for it. And, thinks work is for losers, do you know what I mean?

Spoiled punks are the worst.
Kids wearing $300 sports jerseys, driving turbo-laden cars with the works, and never working a day in their lives ever, or knowing hardships, gargh!!

I see all kinds of lazy crap going on in my workplace.
Fast food service is just a terrible practice. Seasonal jerk/teenage workers who don't give a damn about the job, english as a secondary language workers, and me cleaning up after damn near everybody.
If you're paid by the hour and stand around for minutes at a time=free money for you! never earning any of it. 'Oh there's the boss! tries to find something to do' Cleaning up/restocking my area, then yours, then mine again because you messed it up? http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif Fun!
How about some discipline, initiative, "using your brain?"
I'm not going to respect you if you don't understand the concept of "work" or "working hard."

WHOA! LIKE, KEWL!!!

I mean, I talk for myself. There are dudes out there who only study and work all day, making an effort to handle their heavy social life, and their work is most of the times to pay for their studies, home, and bills.

I would send him to the army, learn some manners, and do a lifetime supply of push-ups http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Look at it this way: if it was only one check, you probably only have to pay one $30 fee http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif
