View Full Version : navi jokes get old

navci
Oct 7, 2004, 01:26 PM
Fuck off.

People complain about eclair jokes.
People complain about photondrop jokes.

Then it stopped.

But apparently there is always gonna be navi jokes after endless complains? What, you can't understand the meaning of "this joke is fucking old and stop it before I tear your head off"?

So here is my statement. I have put up with navi jokes for a long time. But it finally is getting to me. Anytime I see another one I am going to request a lock.

Especially you. You know who you are. You keep making them despite of my repeated request for you to stop.

But it's related to FKL, as where most of the jokes came from, so it could stay here.

Perhaps it's some feeble attempt to try and hit on them... or maybe it's something so clever of them to think of that no one else has ever read that name and noticed anything similar to it.

At the moment, I would actually like it if someone made fun of my name in relevance to something else, but it doesn't seem likely, or even possible. Besides, I'm sure if my name was able to be made fun of so easily, I'd get tired of it eventually as well.

Besides... it's not even "navi" anymore... it's navinator. :|

navi- References to Link and Zelda games.
Example: HEY! LISTEN! LOOK OUT! HEY! LISTEN!
Also including references to navinator being the fairy, or linked to the fairy.

Tingle- References to Link and Zelda games.
The green clothed elf >_>

Eclair- References to the pastry... sexual innuendoes abound.

PhotonDrop- Obvious reference to the PSO item.
Example: "Hey, mind if I cash you in for some items from Paganini?", "Can I trade you in for a Blue-Black stone?"

These sorts of things in general are rather annoying and overdone, for the most part... and it's not just FKL... Tingle, PhotonDrop, and Eclair, among others (such as Sharkyland's character, Marina and references to Marina's Bag, etc.) also experience these things while playing PSO itself, or other games if they use the same name elsewhere.

Being the butt of any joke is hard to stomach, even more-so with repeatedly overused/lame jokes.

I have a serious problem with this.

Oh well I'm sure eventually I'll get sick of the crap that follows, even though it's my fault it started. But hey, in todays society, it seems like the only form of entertainment is dragging someone down to a new low. Just ruin their fun, and don't listen to em. Well, some people have the childish tendency to let someone be the center of the negative attentions for them to have a common reason of fun.

Happens a lot especially during teenage.

And some kids still don't grow up after that.

I think that's because it lacks funniness. Just something somebody said that tied in with something else in someway that made some idiot, somewhere, cheerfully snicker in glee because they actually understood the correlation between Navi's name and the Legend of Zelda. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Why was this thread made? Wouldn't it be more effective to address the person in PM than broadcast seemingly ambiguous messages to the site? If as many people are stepping up to admit their cheezy jokes about you, there really doesn't seem to be a big epidemic of Navi jokes. Or perhaps you're feeding off the attention and sympathy? Hmm...

Its widespread. Like the other joke names.

And alot of time its just a nusiance to go to every single person and tell them off. This less aggrivating and less time consuming way is much more effective.

That's a hell of a lot of PMs to send. I don't know the exact number of people bothering Navi, but sending out 50 PMs or so... as Tingle put it:

The message is not ambiguous. It says, "stop making navi jokes, fuck off".

If as many people are stepping up to admit their cheezy jokes about you, there really doesn't seem to be a big epidemic of Navi jokes.

This thread WAS originally made in FKL where most of said jokes are made. It got moved to rants because apparently I was too angry.

You do not have any idea how harassed female members on this forum is. Yet you speak like you do and make accusations accordingly trying to sound oh-so-wise.

I think your a very outspoken, strong woman who has definitely put a smile on my face on more than one occasion.

You are an attractive human being physically and mentally in my opinion. So don't let anyone else drag you down.

I've been here long enough to say that you are very respectful towards people, and you defend yourself when need be. People who fault you for that are just plain wrong.

Aredhle, that can be true.

But even if it is, this thread serves perfectly well to ask everyone to just stop with the lame stuff, and to ask everyone who didn't not to try.

I don't think there's anything wrong in starting a thread to get some respect.

You're right - I have no idea what it's like to be a harassed female. Nowhere did I say that I did or did not. I view females as equal - that means NOT ELIGIBLE FOR SPECIAL CONSIDERATION. My alleged "oh-so-wise" comments were keeping your equal rights as a human in mind, so just don't even try to play that card.

It is not illgal point out names. However.
1. There are a lot of people involved.
2. Once you start pointing out names, that becomes a personal flame/attack. And I really rather not do that, it is prolly against the forum rules and rude. Apparently you don't have those concepts in mind?

Do you read? Or do you just read two sentences and then form your conclusion? What I said was being female on this forum automatically earn you harassment. People start to make jokes about you, PM you with all sorts of fun things. We all try our best to deal with it. But does that mean we cannot announce our frustration when it goes too far? Does that mean we cannot ask people to stop when it starts to bother us?

I am merely stating the fact here that we get harassment on this forum a lot more than you do just by being female. It is a fact, I didn't make it up. I am not saying females should have special privileges.
Honestly, try to understand what is being said before making your oh-so-wise comments.

You're condescending - I'll give you that. And you try so hard to be clever, I suppose I'll give you credit for that as well. My "oh-so-wise" comments are mere elaborations in a thread that was obviously made to attract attention; conversational resolution development if you will. Would it make you feel better if I said I feel sympathy for your gender? http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif

I would, of course, be lying. Learn to wear a cup sometimes, eh? They make them for girls too. And before you take offense to that as well, I am not telling you to go away- I'm merely saying you should be prepared to take a lot of shit on the internet: especially when you make your identity so well known.

Sheesh, for shit's sake, leave each other alone. Does it really always have to come down to having to paddle afew people and put them in seperate corners?

Everyone stop being so sensitive, where are your social barriers that protect you from petty things? No one should be harassed while on site, but it does happen, and for the piddly shit, step up and voice yourself to those who are doing it.

I'm not going to go around handing out 50 pm's to people trying to tell them that their jokes are annoying to someone, so if thats what it's going to take to get the jokes to stop, start sending out the pm's to those who are doing it. A copy/paste technique would prolly work well and make it go faster.
