Hot Damn man!

I've only played Part 3 for PS2, really, but this money/time issue was a factor as well.
I don't know where you got the 6 hour time limit from....?
Winning races in part 2 garners new cars to sell for cash right?

Thank goodness for the ability to save after gaining an abundance of money, then spend and if you don't like the results, load it back up!

This was true to myself locating a Viper GTR for sale after winning vs. a Viper, then purchasing the mean machine only to learn it would cost well over $1,500,000 to make it top-of-the-line. With the money I had put into it, it was nowhere near the power of the one I had raced, and beat. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_mad.gif

Finding the NEW Engine mod for the upgrade shop is still a work in progress. What the heck is up with the upgrade shop's sequence of new parts?!

Starting over from scratch when your original car sucks the big one, in order to purchase the best of the starting cars, sucks as well. This is from knowing you will not own any other cars out on the road, even with upgrades, or make enough money to buy another 'starter car.'

Hehe.
My car list:
FTO version GP
300 ZX old version
Subaru Impreza WRX sti VI

I got past the starting tier of racers and moved up into the bonus 100+ more for each of the 3 city areas.

That's my estimated time I will take to race enough scrubs to get the required money. Usually, I race Brown Nose since he gives me an assured 400$ a pop.

I don't think so... In TXR 2, winning against certain rivals will unlock cars, but you still have to buy them.

I use that a lot. I was figuring "Do I keep the Subaru Coupe V or do I get the Subaru 22b?" So using the money I had, I put it all into the first Subaru to find out the results weren't worth writing home about. So I went for the latter, slightly more powerful 22b.

Take in mind that the AI in TXR 2 is constantly on borderline of cheating. It has the ability to scrape walls on corners without much loss of speed, and can turn faster than you ever could, no matter your settings. This is why I tend to challenge racers on the straight Wangan Line, since they are impossible to beat on the more technical Loop Line.

Which engine are you looking for? For me, the Step 4 (Twin Turbo) is already powerful enough at it is, plus the Level 7 muffler!

I had much trouble because when I had my 180SX, the Subaru 22b wasn't unlocked yet! So I had to get a temporary Subaru in order to win against a few more rivals and finally unlock the good one. Cost me 50 grand.

Lucky you. Phantom Racer is still handing my ass over to me on a silver plate. Right now, there is no way I could beat him even on a straight, and his corners area frustration to behold. I witnessed him hitting walls repeatedly while trying to avoid traffic, and yet he doesn't lose speed. At all. I know my Sub won't ever be able to cream hs NSX unless I set my gears to maximum acceleration and crank up the turbo to the max as well, and even then, I might have to be forced to block him, which means I must get the challenge on the upper Wangan Line, or else he'll have enough space to overtake me.

For the NEW Engine mods, let me elaborate.

I meant the option in TXR 3's engine mods menu that is greyed out, and thus somehow must be unlocked, which says Change Engine.
I am assuming I can use this option, once unlocked, to change an NA car engine to a turbo one.

The instruction manual is very bare bones and doesn't explain anything, especially in terms of unlocking new upgrade parts/new cars.

I should look up an FAQ for this game, and also purchase it. >_< I just merely borrowed a friend's until he wanted it back.

Yeah, your system is different than mine since I play TXR 2. In fact, it's really hard to compare strategies in TXR games together. In the first TXR, I had to "ladder" my way up the upgrades, while in TXR 2, I can cut right away to the best.

Man, this is nuts. Even with all the stuff I put in there, I STILL can't outrun Phantom Racer. Granted, he has a NSX, but I should at least be able to keep him from rear-ending me all the time.
