Sex on the Pioneer (http://www.planetdreamcast.com/features/editorials/edit001/)

I know this is something I've experienced with my HUnewearl - though certainly to a lesser degree than the author of this editorial. From my experience, it seems to be much more common in PSO than in PC ORPGs, possibly due to the younger player base.

What do you think? Has this been a problem for you? How do you deal with it? Have you been the one making inane passes at other guys? Do you disagree with the practice? Agree?

You aint kidding!!!!!!
What's the deal? I cant BE in a lobby without a gang of skirt chasers giving me the "hey baby" type treatment. LOL, teenagers-what else can you say? I really think the hunters guild should implement a sexuall harrassment policy in the work placehttp://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif

Speaking of ORPG bustin', I assume a lot of you have played or are currently playing EQ. You know how the /talk command or whatever lets people in your general vicinity hear what you're saying? Well I was in some out of the way inn, probably that one in Highpass or High Hold or whatever and I heard some REALLY freaky talking and I went into one of the upstairs rooms and saw some elf chick and a human dude standing on top of the bed f-ing cybersexing each other! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif

I mean the whole 9 yards "I'm doing blah blah to you" and "ooh yeah blah blah blah" hahah and they don't notice I'm there till I start doing my little Dwarf tumble-jump and shouting battle cries http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif they said they were on their honeymoon and if i could please leave http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif So of course i start casting buffs and medding in the middle of the room!

Anyways this post has absolutely nothing to do with PSO but teenaged DC users will never be able to beat EQ players for sheer perversity http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif

Yup, I've had my share of strangely curtious players and others asking the question if I'm a guy or a girl. In no time I added the male symbol to my guild card.

Why did I choose a female character?

Hey, if I had to stare at someone's butt for more than a hundred hours, I'd rather it be one from a cute HUnewearl. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif (I also wanted someone with more magic power since I play as support rather than offense)

*sigh*

I too have had my share... Even as my HUcast.

Apparently most people don't recognize Seutekh as an ancient diety, but as some screwed up misspelling of their ex-girlfriend's names.

All I can say is that it's amusing to watch. Can't believe how many desparate people there are that play this game seemingly just to hit on other players.

I personally sit there laughing (while typing lol) until they leave, hilarious! HAHAHAHHAA! Desparate guys

Just imagine the type of person it takes to hit on a female avatar http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_wink.gif

I made a joke on the EQ/Brell boards about 'dont make me get your father' And when the guy saw my sig he said 'If you look like that IRL you can whip me yourself'

I know just after UP was released there was a defniate advantage to having a female avatar. My brother used to play as a female and high level players would always try to get "in his pants" by giving him extra gold/items/guild stones... In any case I think the irony of hte situation is what makes it so great... I mean these people are hitting on someone who (a) is probalby not a girl, (b) they would never meet, and (c) if they did they wouldn't be interested(I don't know how many idiots I've meet who set their standards WAY too high). I don't mean to discourage this at all. Hell, it makes playing PSO like reading old Pulp Fiction...

Mostly hilarious.

My younger brother plays a female half elf druid in EQ which means his avatar looks like a woman in lingerie binkini.

He gets hit on all the time, most of the time he ignores them, but if they annoy him enough he will string them out for abuot 20 min then inform them they are trying to cyber with a guy. Most of them do not find it amusing judging from thier responses, but thats the price they pay for thier actions =)

I just go under the assumption that we're all guys.. I was playing in a game with a friend who uses the female avater, and is named nei. This guy came in and starts right away with him, with the whole, what do you look like, how old are you, the whole shibang.. My friend is too disgusted to answer any of his questions and I finally get sick of it and say.. Dude, you'r hitting on a person with a cock.. He got the hint.

Last night was my first experience with this problem, and while for the most part it is easy to ignore this and just play, I have an issue with it because my 7 year old son *LOVES* to watch me play this game (he tries it himself too, loves the character he created, but can't "get" the strategy involved) - and I had to leave at least 3 quests last night because guys started in on me like that and I kept getting "What did he mean, mommy?" type questions from my son. I won't allow him online at all when he plays, mainly because it wouldn't be fair to the other players, but also because of the way others act online - like it's a challenge to try to fake out the censor program and get a swear to show up onscreen by spelling it differently or something. That is NOT what this game is about, and it's sad that I have to spend so much time trying to avoid it when all I wanna do is share some adventure with both those folks online and my kids. I know I'm probably in the minority in this issue, and in general the folks I've teamed up with have been awesome, even going so far as talking to my son when they find out he is watching too - he is thrilled by something as simple as that - but that's my take on it. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif

I agree. It's no fun to play when it becomes that big of a problem. Some people just need to grow up!

I wish you could report people for harassment like you can in Ultima Online. Threatening them with a loss of their account could shut them up quickly!

There's also "playing your character".. Some people may joke around with the male to female talk because hey, you're a virtual chick, and they are a virtual stud. I sometimes will *mildly* joke around but all in the context of virtual sexual relations. I don't go crazy with it.

My character is chivalrous. SSZ will usually aid a female Force character who may be in trouble, usually ending up in him getting badly injured. But hey, it's his job. He'll defend anyone, but those HUnewearls can take care of themselves so usually I cover the Force characters who mostly happen to be female and have 'wet paper bag' skin apparently that requires constant protection.

As far as donating items and stuff, I do that, but it's not gender specific. I'm a RAmar, I can't use Force staff-type weapons. If I see a Force (male or female) and I happen to stumble on a wand Special Weapon, I give it to them. The exchange rate on those things is usually awful anyway. But again, many Force players use female characters.

I think when this stuff happens it's pretty funny! I have done it as a joke and have had it done to me. If it's buggin you though, then just leave that block or lobby. More than 90% of the time anyway the player you are "hitting" on is a guy so dont take any of this too seriously. It's all in good fun.

to Nynaeve: I would suggest forming a group of more mature people and get online with them mostly. Kinda like a Clan of friends that you know you can trust to not act like idiots or steal.
Some people call them teams or whatever.
It's a good way to enjoy the game without the hassles of the annoying ones.

i totally agree with you guys. I see this s#@$ happen all the time so i decided to conduct a little survey of mine. i asked all the girl characters who were playing if they were guys in real life. outta 26 girls asked so far, 21 of them were actually guys. AYE CARAMBA!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah....those polygon models are HOT......freaks. Who chases after girls in video games? Freaks. Everyone knows most of those girls in the lobby are really fat-ass whores.

lol leave it to Cree to make a politically correct and touching statement.

actually most girls who play won't admit to being girls (at least the smart ones), as they'd rather not hear most of the crap, nor deal with the other extreme of guys like Cree.

fact is, it's learned from message boards and online chat well before this game.. well as long as you're a little older and have used a PC, this is hardly unexpected, unfortunately.

Well Cree... that's quite possibly one of the most offensive things I've seen on this forum. (altho who really has time to sift thru 6000 or so posts?)

On the other hand... if that attitude keeps you from hitting on me and my girlfriend, (who is neither a fatass nor a whore, thank you very much) I'm all for it.

And just for those of you who wanna know: no I won't tell you who she is so you know you're "mackin' on a hottie." Pervs.

Rei: self-esteem?

uhm... re-read that post, bub.

I'm not talkin about me, (altho I do have a cute ass) my main avatar, (Who has a shiny metal ass, and yes, you can bite it.http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_wink.gif) or even my secondary. (stay away from her ass. there's a guy playing, and no comments about the pupose of the eye patch either. That's... sick)

On that note... You wouldn't believe some of the comments I've gotten on the eyepatch. Most were so offensive that I would be ashamed to have someone else in my living room read them, much less repeat them on a board where children might read it. (yess, this from a guy who just said ass four times in a single post. For the kiddies, I meant a large, gray donkey-type creature.)

I've got a blue HUnewearl, with the blue outfit (who wears short shorts?), and yeah, I've had a few hit-ons from people in the lobbies. In fact, I've had games where people pop in, and ask the equivalent of "A/S/L" over a period of five minutes. When they find out I'm a guy, they find a convenient excuse to leave.

A couple of other online friends who use the same Avatar, have told me stories of how guys pop in, and give them presents like the doublesaber, and photon claws. Man, maybe I should start lying on the A/S/L things to get free items too.

Anyone else find it sad that it seems to mainly be other android characters that hit on me? I guess it is a form of role-playing, but...

Whee.

I find that leaving games tend to be the best way to deal with the horndogs. I'm sure we've all got better things to do than listen to bad pickup lines. ;P

One of my characters is a three and a half foot FOnewearl and this guy comes up to me and says, "hey you can ____ my ____ without even bending over". I had NO clue how to react to that one. Really, I wanted to send a gizonde right up his ___, alas there's no button for that one. So look out, ladies and fake ladies alike, there are some REAL jerks out there.

If they are getting arroused by polygon models and they don't understand that the person playing that character doesn't look the same, then they are dumber than shit. Too bad this game doesn't have a taunt that extends your middle finger.

I have also come to the conclusion that everyone is in love with me, but that is natural. Everyone loves me, even boys. You know, I don't do that gay shit, but it's kind of a testament to my appeal when even the fags are attracted to me. I guess everyone wants some of the god of whoopass. And where the hell did I leave my sandwhich? I swear I didn't eat it...but it was right here........

probably the damn dog.

ok, here's a suggestion that will usually put a stop to all the lewd comments and come-ons.
1st. You have to be real comfortable with your own sexual identity to pull this off, otherwise you won't be able to.

Ok. When someone makes a comment, play along, but make sure you tell them you are a guy first..

ex..
Male Avatar : Hey, you got a nice butt.
Femal_Avatar : Thanks, btw I'm a guy.
Male_Avatar : uhh..
FA : BTW your butt isn't so bad either.
MA: uhh...
FA : Actually the whole "package" is kinda nice
MA: What are you GAY?!??!?!
FA : Well, you did say I have a nice butt.....
MA: .......

that will stop them in their tracks

I know what you mean. I could be playing a game with two guys, and a girl joins the game. I have NO problem with this at all. BUT the guys totally forget we are playing and start flirting with the girl, who doesn't want any part of it. To me girl players are just aother player, they want to play the game, instead of being hassled by a bunch of loser guys. If you buy a game, play it. If you want to flirt go on a chat room, they are free.
