The French word for...

I'm rusty on my french, and need to know how you would ask someone, "Do you want an ice cream?"

According to notes from french 1, it should be, "tu veux une ..." my problem is: the notes are old and hardly readable. What is the french word(s) for 'ice cream'.

Well, since Spanish is somewhat like French, and the Spanish word for "ice cream" is helado...maybe that'll help you.

It is "glace".

But it's better to use "veux-tu une glace ?" than "tu veux une glace ?" in a written context. Orally, both work fine.

BrokenHope is right, "creme glacee" (use proper accents on both words, though, PSOW replaces them by question marks) is common, too, but a bit smug and/or formal.

And yeah, don't forget that "tu" and "vous" in French are both "you" in English.

And it's the formal version. For example, when talking to a teacher you would use 'vous'.
