G-mail is Google's e-mail service that offers a gig of storage for free. In contrast, of course, to Hotmail's 25MB or 250MB of storage.

It caused quite a stir when it was announced. It's the reason why Hotmail bumped up their service from just one megabyte.

I have 50 invites on my account.

Not too long ago I had just 6 or so. I have no clue how I got ~40 in less than a month.

Some people like it since there is less of a time limit on accounts (G-Mail gives you 9 months to log in before the account dies; Hotmail only 1).

Space isn't the only thing to matter.


Edit: I know someone who only has 4 invites(never sent any)...
