Every once in awhile I seem to misplace my memory card. I'll tear up my room, put my car in disaray, go through my couch cushions, to try and recover this sacred gem, and eventually, it always turns up. I don't play as many games as I used to, but this little memory card (as with my dreamcast, PSone, and N64 cards and cartridges) has tons of my teenage memories stored on it.

This time though, I think it is gone for good. I tried retracing my footsteps, and for about a week now, I haven't seen the result in my diligent searching. Stupid of me, I put the damn thing in my shallow jacket pocket, and everytime I bend down it has a tendancy to fall out, but I keep putting it back in that same pocket for a reason even unbeknownst to me. I guess it takes to many brain resources for me to realize that if it falls out once it's going to fall out again, and the next time it falls out I might not realize it. So I'm extremely pissed off right now, I've never searched this long, and I think some random guy now might be using it saying to his buddy, "d00d, I found a memory card in the parking lot yesterday1!11!!!!"

Sometimes I'm baffled by how lazy I am.

Ouch!
Man.
That would be a "hard pill to swallow" for myself as well.

I won't give up my PS1/N64 mem cards either. So many hundreds of hours of gaming accomplishments and progress.

Do you always have your PS2 card on your person? As in always carrying it "to and fro"?
I'm thinking you transfer it to play with friends a lot or some other validated and completely adequate reason.

I tend to leave mine in the system and not move it much or hide it from thieving little buggers that might come into contact with my stuff.

I hope you find it eventually. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif
Do you care to tell what you had on it before you lost it?

I don't ever take my memory card out of my PS2 unless their is a legitimate reason. I was bringing the card over because I just rented NBA Street Volume 3, and I was planning on playing it with my teammate on his PS2 to build up my character and start my street career and such. The funny part is that his PS2 is out of commission (makes a fat circle scratch across all his games) at the moment, so even if I didn't lose it, there was no way of playing it anyways.

The games that were on there were mostly completed or enjoyment exhausted so it's not a complete loss, but a whole load of older game saves are significant casualties.

I'll try to list all the game saves I had on the card, but the last time I went through the main browser screen was awhile ago:

-Jak and Daxter fully completed with all 100 (or was it 101?) powercells
-Madden '04 season (I was only about three games into the season anyways, and the game is outdated so it's not that big of a deal)
-Completed Devil May cry
-SSX Tricky with most everything unlocked
-Hawk 3 (with everything unlocked and insane point totals for a lot of the maps/levels)
-Time Crisis 2
-Tekken 4 with everything unlocked
-NBA Street and NBA Street Volume 2 (serious hours logged into both these games)
-FFX (3/4 of the way through, wanted to beat it eventually though)
-Twisted Metal Black (most everything unlocked)
-Timesplitters 2 with everything unlocked

Oh and thanks for making me drudge through and amplify all the pain I'm experiencing http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif just joshing.

Heh.
I just wanted to ask to show sympathy towards what hours and playing you put in.

Tony Hawk 3 records would be a pain to replace, http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif , unless you were motivated to go try to best your old records. For an older game it would take some motivation to repeat such feats a second time around and a million 2 minute runs later. That one seems to be the most terrible loss, I believe in terms of playing time and uhm..., sentimental value. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Devil May Cry isn't that long per se, but I guess plowing through once or twice and getting secret items and red orbs would be a major pain in the arse as well.

Same to Street v1 and 2. I have played through those games and they tend to drag on forever, especially the new Volume 3 I picked up, blah! http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Thanks for sharing your losses.

At the very least we can all learn to keep our memory cards safer when we hear horror stories of corruption and loss, right?

Some people may even want to back up files on a second card and keep them in an undisclosed location too;Better safe than sorry! or You never know!
