Could this be the solution to California's power problems?

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's first ever dung-fired power station started operating on Thursday, taking the excrement of nearly 5,000 cows and lighting up homes around the north coast of Devon.

If I remember correctly, when methane is burned, it releases something harmful to the envirnment... But I could be wrong.

Only humans could think of lighting the world with a pile of cowshit.

They already use gasses given off by landfills near L.A. for energy. Cow crap doesn't seem much different.

The methane is burnt.

When methane burns it only gives off Carbon Dioxide and Water, since the only 2 things in it are carbon and hydrogen, and burning means they react with air, so nothing harmful is given off.

The way all powerplants work is by heating up water and using steam to drive turbines round. Different sorts of power plants use different things to turn the water into steam.

It's better than just keeping it somewhere and letting it rot and grow hair. Next thing you know, sewer systems are going to flow toward power companies, putting all our shit to good use!

When oil is dug up H26 gas comes out which is basically instant death. You can always incenerate the methane that is produced.

Of course they incinerate the methane, that's what's used to make the water into steam.

It's just like Mad Max 3

H26 can be burned too, hydrogen is the most combustable element, so H26 would go off like a bomb!

There's a 3rd one? Damn, I thought it ended at Thunderdome.
