I'm just going along with the "I use the razor by my bed for shaving" line, because the joke was referring to the razor in the way I mentioned.

Think of it like "I'm not emo, that razor's for shaving, I swear!"
Makes it a bit clearer.

I didn't think cutting was considered an emo trait though, as I'm not familiar with the word or why people call other people that word. Erm something.

they're not trying to be different. it's thousands trying to be loners and outsiders by conforming to an image of someone who has real problems.
my ex was a masochist, and cut herself up because it gave her a kind of satisfaction. these kids do it so they can brage to their friends, or lack of friends.
