View Full Version : Do HP raise ATA?

This may sound stupid but there are a couple of articles I've read here and on GameFAQ saying that giving your character HP also raises their ATA. I've just tried it on my Hunter and can't see any difference in the stats. Perhaps I've misinterpreted those articles?

HP has nothing to do with ATA.

HP and ATA are in no way connected, don't trust GameFAQ's for everything.

Thought not, my gut feeling told me it wouldn't be so. In that case it's just levelling up after you've got your mag to Level 200. Phew. This is my first Hunter character and I realise now how important ATA is. It never seemed to matter when I was a force.
Thanks for the speedy answer.

1 dex on a mag= 0.5 ata. and /arm's are only things that i know that raises it (apart from leveling).

You can raise it by certain armor/shield as well. Also, if your weapon has any Hit% that increases accuracy. For the # of hit = the number of ATA you will receive. So for example, if you find a mechgun with 10% Hit, it will have an extra +10 ATA.

It's possible the context may have been overlooked as well, since HP can also mean Heaven's Punisher. Heaven's Punisher's special, while not actually raising your accuracy, always hits, so some may have concluded that it boosts your ATA, when really the special isn't affected by ATA at all.
If they did mean HP as in hit points, then no, it doesn't affect ATA.

yeah.. this could be something that many have overlooked - HP as in the gun, not the stat

Ah, yeah. Forgot about that... Damn PSO abbreviations. So, the question is: did you mean Heaven Punisher, or Health (hit) points?

What does it matter which one was meant. Both have been addressed and answered. Just let this topic rest.

If the original poster meant the Heaven Punisher, then the topic has not been addressed.
Since the original post could be interpreted to ask "Will giving my hunter a Heaven Punisher" raise their ATA? If that is the case, then the answer is 'yes'. The Heaven Punisher will add 50 ATA. Even more ATA will be added if the weapon has hit.
Also, the only thing your post served to accomplished was to bump the thread. Stay out of the thread and it will eventually die on its own.

I might also point out another source of confusion might be the Dreamcast games, where there were Hit Materials that raised ATA (as opposed to how both DC versions and subsequent versions have HP Materials that raise Hit Points). Possibly the Gamefaqs report, or the original poster, mistook "Hit" for "HP" in that fashion.
