Good luck saying this on PSO...

This may toss my reputation out the window, but yesterday I was sitting in the the basement with my shoes off, eating a pork sandwich for lunch with a cold glass of cola.

Kudos to Sega for making such an entertaining and seemingly random censor. -.- There's reason for censoring these, I'm sure, but I really don't care.

Now if you'll excuse me, it's lunchtime. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

"Toss" is slang for masturbation.
"Puta" is bad.
"Semen" is bad.
"Hoes" is bad.
"Pork" is crude slang for sex.
"Cola" is something, but I forgot.

Is is just me, or is EVERY word a crude slang word for sex? http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif

I swear, every word means something dirty somewhere. I've probably said several horrible things in this sentence alone. >.<

I wish people would stop changing the definitions of words...english is hard enough as it is. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Sega wanted to make the most 'palatable' environment for online so that little kiddies could be safe from the big bad dirty words. Too bad they didn't censor properly accented foreign words, (eg. scheisse with sharp s), and have some loopholes, (eg. asshat). Of course, Episode III has a different set of censors all together, one of which is Paris. (Pari means something in some language and thus Paris is censored in Episode III but not Episode II) Heck, the name "Wai Lin" is not usable on Xbox. Thus, live with the censors as they really don't do much to ruin gameplay and can easily be bypassed using other letters, spaces, periods, commas... et cetera.

So you are saying, that since you are from Portugal, the first time you saw a Marica Mag you thought of a queer mag? Oo

Heh, that is actually funny.

Not necessarily.

...Not necessarily. There's also the "Preta" mag, which is the female word for "Black" colour, and I don't necessarily think of a Black mag.

There are a lot of latin words in videogames which have lots of meanings, I'm used to see them. Can't remember an example now, though.

Funny how idiot is censored yet moron, numbskull, and imbecile are all legal words, all of which I think of as worse than idiot.

They censor "masterbate," but not "masturbate."

But I think the funniest one is "man goo." http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

You also can't make a character named "Clutch" on DCv2. I dunno about DCv1, Xbox, GC or Episode III.

When I discovered that the word "Queue (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=queue)" was banned, however, I went on a little rant about it in game.

It appeared something like this...

All right! @*&$^ up the next boss!

wtf?

@*&$^

Huh. Why is @*&$^ censored?

@*&$^ @*&$^ @*&$^

That's absurd!

I mean...

What if I just want to @*&$^ something??

I could @*&$^ documents to the printer, I could @*&$^ people at a movie theater, but why can't I just @*&$^ a boss?

Geez...

Edit: Looking at the definition on Dictionary.com, apparently a "queue" was also a word for what we'd now likely consider to be a braided mullet.

Why is "zob" censored? I don't know the meaning of the word. Can someone with more information tell me?

Myself and a few others randomly ran across this word, when typed out, was censored. Source being DC v2 online.

It was good for a few laughs just like your 'queue' rant. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I used to be more peeved at the fact other players could use the word select of: "Please use word select," (mostly JP players when trying to join c-mode games or other random times) when I could not. I know they fixed it in XBOX/GC etc. but it wasn't available in DC v2.
