I live in the South, and every day I sound more and more Snotty British, perhaps to compensate. Unless I lapse into Liverpudlian. But I'll be talking to people, and realize that for the last five minutes or so I've been sounding like I'm channeling the fucking BBC or something.

Goes with the international English I tend to use, I guess. I drove my English teacher nuts last summer.

You'd think I'd pick up a Japanese accent with all the anime I've watched and all the J-rock I've listened to. XP

I think I have a southern accent. I'm not sure. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

Sometimes, when I'm not paying attention, I'll say "Ahm" instead of "I'm." http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

Developing a southern accent isn't fun. You slur everything together and basically get really lazy with everything you say. Ooh, and ebonics slips in after a while, too. I've been fighting against this southern thing since I was eight, and I'm seeing its dark mark on my language. It scares me.

Ebonics in southern accents? Maybe the other way around...

Funny thing is, this type of language is closer to the Shakespearian English because it has changed the least of any English. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Yeah, some of my chorus friends and I had a conversation about how the word "yonder" seems thoroughly southern, and also very "Olde English" at the same time. Interesting.
