So, in the fifth season of Sailor Moon, three new characters are introduced: The Starlights, a trio of good-aligned Sailor Soldiers from another solar system. They're looking for their princess, blah blah blah.

So, their method of doing this is to become a group of idol singers called the Three Lights and write songs that their princess would get if she heard them(Well, why not, better than posters saying "Have you seen our Princess?").

Now, Sailor Soldiers are always female. Always. Sailor Starfighter, Sailor Starmaker and Sailor Starhealer are all, indeed, female.

Now, Seiya Kou, Taiki Kou and Yaten Kou are all, indeed, male, as we see on several occasions when they happen to be shirtless and the reaction to a towel being pulled down...

Now, obviously, Seiya Kou and Sailor Starfighter are the same person, Taiki Kou and Sailor Starmaker are the same person, and Yaten Kou and Sailor Starhealer are the same person.

This, obviously, is why the fifth season of Sailor Moon has never been dubbed in the US.

Now, the Italian dub had an... Interesting way of dealing with this. They're still looking for their princess, they're still from another solar system... But they're not the same people. Inexplicably, the Starlights are now the Three Lights' sisters. Their sisters, that they never actually interact with, for obvious reasons. >_>;

And this, my children, is the reason that if an English, or any other language, translation/adaptation/butchering changes something from the original Japanese version, the English/any other language version is full. Of. Shit. Though the results can be amusing/scarring, I suppose.

While we're at it, Uranus and Neptune sure as fuck aren't cousins, either.

You know, the Japanese half the time use western/other names for things, and just approximate/butcher the pronunciation because half the sounds don't exist in their language. XP So why do we feel the need to change names like mad when we bring something over? O_o; Well, anime/manga, anyway, I'll forgive video games where there's usually a character limit and the non-kana version of the name doesn't fit(As long as they keep it consistent. ~_~)... But honestly, how difficult is it to say Usagi? O_o;

What always got me was the English names of the Outer Senshi. Haruka is now Amara. Michiru is now Michelle. Setsuna is now Trista. Hotaru... Is still Hotaru. The... Fuck? They even pronounced it semi-right. They changed damn near every other goddamned name in the entire series, and left Hotaru alone. Riiiiiiiiiiight.
