I'm not old, but I've steadily declined in fitness in reaching the age I am. The usual disheartening sight of the track was now laghing at me. Hardened paint takes its last breath before plunging off the bleachers to the ground, the artificial orange of the dirt loosely scatters on the track, and the football field grass, torn and abandoned after the season, is left to die instead of being kept. Despite this, the greatest of the evils lies in the legs that can't stand, the throat that can't breathe, and the heart that beats as a humming bird flaps its wings, all mine.

Dismissed until now, personal health was compromised for the impulses I claim to myself I can avoid: food, games, and just general inactivity. Now, faced with a mile run, I face the worst of feeelings, one of regret I'm helpless against.

I stretch to give myself whatever edge there might be, and stand up to start to face the track that might as well be a firing squad. Just like suicide, I fall in the quicker half, and the half that goes first, but just like forfeiting my health, it was my decision.

There is no time to prepare, we only have thirty minutes, so you have to start now. The unfamiliarity I've always had with my body is demonstrated when I'm surprised to find myself lighly panting 30 seconds in. By the first lap we're all comfortably scattered, and just as I can think about something other than not crashing, my breath takes over.

Laps 1 and 2 went quickly, but three (halfway done) compensated. As is typical, I was breathing more dirt than air, and my breath was a wheeze that filled not only my ears, but my mind.

Finishing lap three, the same thing happened as last time. I felt sick, and my stomach was clawing at my throat. No, I thought, no, I'm going to make it this time. I'm not hurting myself anymore.

And, like the comeback kid, there was a second wind. Even better, however, than the pain leaving my legs, and my breath ceasing to hurt, was the track. The track wasn't there anymore, and in its place was the feeling, as the distance beween me and the end closed, of "one more lap."

Okay, now the actual reason i wrote this, that active/non-active thing next to your posts, does that mean you're on the site, or that you're logged on, because I don't bother logging off.

Jesus, I'd be suprised if you considered it.

It's all bullshit anyways

well, sadly enough, I'm better at short sprinting than running for long stretches, so I'm best left to the thinking on projects, not the doing. I have drive, but lack of ability.

No, I find Jesus more befitting
Now I will cease to reply to you, as I'm not worthy

(you don't have to congratulate me for ruining a perfectly good joke, I already congratulated myself.)

So are you saying that you got a 7.01 on your mile? Hah! At all my track meets, I usually get around 6.30. 6.32 is my best yet.

I made it very clear I wasn't prepared for a run. In seeing you do track meets, I'm suprised your best is only :30 better than mine.

I'm sorry, no put down was intended. Actually, your time was pretty fast, considering that like, half the people I know get like, 9 minute miles. Oh, and you don't exactly have to be fast to be on track, the real test is mental. I had about an 8 1/2 minute mile before I started, so I'm pretty satisfied with my accomplishments...

Oh, and yeah, that active/non-active thing indicates whether you're online or not.

I find it kinda funny how we had to go through talking about religion and track times just to get to your question... but then again, I guess this is what it's like in this topic... this is my first time here.. crazy...

Uh-oh, some naughty boy's been flippin' his posts.

reread my previous, as I've edited it.

Annoying huh? But that's why you're stuck on 43.

MY GOD!! I post something, and the new guy's gone, and you're here! When everyone's on the same topic at once, things get http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Oh, and thanks for all the info. Yeah, like I stated before, I'm new to FKL, so bear with me.

Edit: Crap... someone saw that... I HATE EDITING!

Frink's title used to be "God" but for one reason or another(proabably hate mail, I shouldn't speculate though), he left that on the side of the road.

"BogusKun", last I saw, also still has "God" as the title.

Takes me a bit over 13 minutes, being as how I refuse to run for any reason whatsoever.
