View Full Version : ...did I just get a dupe?

I was online on thursday morning (6am ish) and JP player made a game on a US block, I entered the game and we did HS, (my first online quest with someone else, my first online quest was BSM), he was using a SN and a Secure Feet, I commented on his weapon through the bad text maker thing and he said BRB, thinking that he was getting me a SN I told him that I already had it, he came back and then I went to go get mine, I used it and then found out his was S-rank because it had a zalure special.
Near the TP to forest 2 I asked him if he had a big fan (huge battle fan), he said BIG? and then went back to town, he came back and dropped a Rappy's wing, I said no and asked for a Huge fan. few mins later he came back and said he didn't have it, about 1/3 done the quest I said his S-rank was cool, he did a emote I then told him that I didn't have a S-rank, he then said "demon shot" I didn't know WTF he was talkng about so he said wait and then logged off, I finished the quest, then saw him in the lobby, he made a game and I joined him, once the game was made I saw a S-rank by the name "tomato Shot" on the ground, it had no grinds whatsoever, I asked if he was sure and he said yes.
after testing it out on some normal boomas he said ZZZZZZzzz and the some godd-bye emotes, I thanked him for the weapon and he logged out.
So is this a common "dupe" or a legit S-rank? I really don't care either way but I just want to know if is is because I won't be using it online if it is a dupe.

this is sorta offtopic but I'd like to get a S-rank twin sometime before the end of the month.... anyone up for c-mode?

If it was a legit weapon, I sincerely doubt the person would drop it on the ground for a random person...

it was only me and him though, and I thought about that too but usually I hear dupes are maxed grinded.

The odds of that being a legitimate weapon are not very good. No one is going to go through the trouble of obtaining a SRank and then just drop it on the ground for someone they've only played with for a little bit.
Kazuma, another question. When he told you to wait and he logged out, how long did you wait before he came back?

Yeah. I won't drop my well earned S-Rank weapon lying around. The person who did it might have:
1. Dropped the dupe of the original.
2. That person got this S-Rank weapon from somebody else so he dropped the thing probably because it is probably a dupe or is it that he himself didn't earn it in C-mode.
3. What would you do if you have got a S-Rank weapon that you supposedly obtained? Dropped it like that if you don't have a dupe one for back-up?
Please. Use your common sense.
never can tell, some people play C mode for the thrill not necessarily the weapons. Who knows, maybe hes played it so many times hes made several of the same weapon.
Thats definitely wishful thinking though.
more than likely a dupe.

The part about him logging offline for a while makes it all the more suspicious.
Duping, while doable offline and online, tends to be a bit riskier online, due to freezing or other possible issues not being as much of a problem offline.
And if he went offline to transfer it off another character... that'd mean he'd have two S-Ranks with the same special.
Remember, people, it's not just "he got an S-Rank from completing Cmode and didn't want it so he gave it away". The S-Rank he gave away most likely had a special on it (assuming from the story, hopefully original poster can verify).
Demon's special costs 50 PD.
So we're talking about giving away S-Rank + 50 PDs to a random person for free.
If the S-Rank itself isn't a dupe, the PDs used on the special most likely would be, in order to give it up so readily.
Also... if he gave you a Zalure one... that's 50 PDs also.
If the original poster can confirm whether it has a special or not, that'd be helpful.

yea, it had demon's as the special... and he was only gone for about a few mins, like 1 or 2.
Well, it's gone now anyway, I traded it for a duped (most likely) Huge Battle fan (90/90/90/0), and since i'm never going to use it online anyway, it was a good trade i guess.

Actually, 90/90/90/0 are legitimately obtainable photon percents. Just thought you might want to know.

Yes, but consider the trade that was made.

There are no diffrences from doing it online or offline, except if your stupid enough to mess up online. Then you lose your weps....then again, if you are a duper it wouldn't matter since you probably already have another one...

Right, but some prefer doing it offline rather than online anyways. True, if you're more affected by it online, you were probably an idiot for having unequipped items you cared about on you, but regardless, there are those who've opted to dupe offline, then return online for the "trade". Doesn't really matter much, yeah, but I've seen people do it before.

Is it possible to get 100% in 2 areas on a weapon legitly? because I just got a (0/100/0/100/20) Twin Blaze yesterday after trading some stuff for it.

Yes, that is possible. In fact, if a weapon has no hit, it can be 100% in 3. It's highly costly, as it requires an enormous amount of photon drops. Anyone trading such an item is likely to be either trading dupes, or having gotten the photon drops by duping.

you can dupe offline?
I did not know that.
Not that I'm going to, too afraid of repracusions.
I probably spelled that incorectly.

As long as you don't have PSO+, yes, you can dupe offline. And without repercussions. Doesn't mean I will encourage anyone to do it though.

Sorry to say, but that one is a dupe, check out my site: its in my signature...
I have this Blaze a long time, and it has 95% in stead of the 100%, but same area, so very very high presumed DUPED twin Blaze... Sorry...

ok if you really wanna find out if the s-rank is legit if it has no persents and looks legit ( long story why i said looks) then go play off or online and ether pipe ( witch would be easyer) or llok for a rare enemy if you see the enemy then kill it if it drops a rare wepon its legit...... you see if you have staked iteams ( more then 10) or a hack mag or hacked items or duped items then you can't find rares i learned this out from my friend and proved to him that my items were legit by pipeing for al rappys
oh and DuoEpitafhMaxwell...... i do have a mac and it has all the crappy stuff you said about it

(For non-BB):
A hacked weapon with normal percents (as in possibly legitimate; 3 areas, all under 100% {maybe under 127%} is no different from a legitimate weapon according to the game. The game also can't tell the difference between dupes and legitimate items. Also, as long as a Mag is level 200 or lower, the game doesn't know it is unlegitimate (not 100% sure on 0 DEF Mags though).
And of course PDs can be stacked to 99.
These will still allow rare drops.
And that testing method isn't always correct: There is still a 1/8 chance that the rare enemy will not droop its rare (assuming Normal-Very Hard difficulty). And you could very well have bad luck and have 10 in a row not drop the rare.
And if that last line is about Duo's sig:
Click the images "properties" or whatever your browser calls it; and copy and paste the link it gives (take out all text after the .com though).
