Basically, certain finger movements acted like the buttons, and the direction you moved your hand was the direction pad.

There were sensors placed on top and sides of your television that picked up signals being output by the glove. o:

It was difficult to play Mario with it.

You could program hand gestures for buttons. Example being, the finger could shoot fireballs.

And my Power Glove never gave me problems. The thing was that I was 6, and didn't exactly understand all of its features.
